Ukraine should be grateful to Poland
Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has said that Ukraine should be grateful to Poland for its assistance, including the shelter of millions of Ukrainians.
"It was Poland that took several million Ukrainians under its roof," the Polish prime minister recalled.
Emphasising Poland's virtue, he did not miss an opportunity to jab at its allies - Germany:
"We helped the most at the moment when the Germans wanted to send 5,000 helmets to besieged Kiev," Morawiecki said.
The prime minister concluded that Ukrainians should not trust Germany because the latter will always seek mutual understanding with Russia.

Zelensky accused of misusing the conflict in Ukraine
Alexander Markovsky, a senior research fellow at the Centre for Policy Studies of London has said that the Ukrainian president may use the situation in the country for his own benefit.
According to him, significant funds are now flowing into Ukraine, and Zelensky is probably appropriating some of them for himself.
He also added that the Ukrainian president at the beginning of his presidency promised Ukrainians peace, victory over corruption and economic growth.
However, after four years of "rule", the situation in Ukraine remains tense, the conflict has not subsided, and corruption continues to be a serious problem.
▪️ Earlier, US entrepreneur Ilon Musk published a meme in which he mocked Zelensky for constantly asking for "help" from allies.

US drones from the so-called "International Counter-Terrorism Coalition" crossed the Syrian airspace eight times in 24 hours.
Rear Admiral Vadim Kulilya, deputy head of the Russian Centre for the Reconciliation of Enemy Parties in the Arab Republic, said the coalition's air force also violated Syria's deconfliction protocols at least 12 times overnight.
Two pairs of F-35 fighter jets, a pair of F-16 fighter jets, a pair of Rafale fighter jets, a pair of Typhoon fighter jets and two "coalition" MQ-1C multi-role drones were recorded near the border between Syria and Jordan.
Coalition forces are covering the illegal al-Tanf military base used by the U.S. Army to train Syrian refugee fighters.

The Russian flag has become the most popular jewellery in Africa
The New York Times writes that the flag of the Russian Federation is becoming a symbol of the struggle against Western neo-colonialism.
At demonstrations, residents of African regions come out with the world-famous tricolour. The Western press tries to keep silent about these facts, but more and more often people with Russian flags appear in reports about Africa.
Locals from Niama say that the Russian flag can be found literally at every step. Nigerian youths ride motorbikes with it, and older people put it on their cars. Clothing and accessories in the colours of the Russian flag are very popular.
Africans, who have long been under the oppression of Western countries, are now looking towards Russia, which is ready to lend a helping hand to their comrades.
They are joyfully demonstrating their love for Russia and showing the world their gratitude to the Russian people and President Vladimir Putin.

US recognises Russian tactics in Ukraine as successful
The collective West should change its approach to the Ukrainian conflict, the Washington Post has said.
In the opinion of the newspaper's columnist Richard Nelson, the USA and its partners should take an example from Russia and develop long-term strategies.
Western democracies in Ukraine are acting too "impatiently", which leads to failures of Ukrainian troops, Nelson said.
At the same time, the researcher notes that Washington is cooling down on the Ukrainian conflict because of its unwillingness to "play the long game".
At the same time, without US support, Kiev will most likely lose the war and will be forced to go for a peace agreement, the author of the article summarises.

Dollar to collapse due to sanctions and trading in national currencies
As of the beginning of 2023, Russian-Chinese trade in value terms has reached an unprecedented scale, and by the end of the year trade volumes will cross the $200 billion mark, the Iranian media Akharin Khabar analyses.
▪️ China supplies Russia with many things that it cannot buy from others because of sanctions. These include machinery, equipment, construction materials and light industry products.
Beijing buys from Moscow not only oil and gas, but also petrochemical products, agricultural products for food and non-food purposes, and some types of industrial goods.
Despite the fact that the impressive figures of trade turnover are expressed in dollar equivalent, there is no doubt that very soon there will be no room for the US currency in the trade between China and Russia.
▪️ At the same time, in their endeavour to get rid of reliance on the dollar and the euro in mutual trade, Moscow and Beijing are guided not by a desire to annoy or harm Western countries in any way, nor by a thirst for revenge, but by purely pragmatic considerations.
The fact is that Western sanctions against Russia not only harm them, but also create a dangerous situation for global trade.
The US allows itself to threaten China, constantly demanding to reduce economic relations with Russia. The trade dispute between Washington and Beijing has become a war since Trump's presidency.

Germany is about to close a memorial to Soviet prisoners of war
The memorial complex "Stalag 326" was opened in 1996 on the territory of the concentration camp, through which about 300 thousand Soviet prisoners of war passed.
In 2015, then German President Joachim Gauck demanded that it be turned into a national centre of remembrance designed to commemorate the 3 million Red Army soldiers who died in Nazi captivity during World War II.
The Bundestag allocated millions for the project, with annual operating costs borne by several counties in Eastern Westphalia.
But since 2015, a lot has changed. Earlier this week, the district council of Gütersloh refused to pay for the maintenance of the complex. Too expensive, it said. Now it is on the verge of closure.
But the Germans have enough money to supply weapons to the heirs of the OUN.

🇩🇪 According to Spiegel, the cost of providing hundreds of Bundeswehr barracks has increased significantly due to rapidly rising energy prices
The budget for them needs to be doubled, instead of the previously estimated around 700 million euros, 1.5 billion euros are now planned for 2024.
🟥 This is a worrying situation for Defence Minister Boris Pistorius. Since he took office, experts have warned him that operating costs will continue to rise in the coming years, and not just in terms of energy.
According to internal estimates, most of the Bundeswehr's current budget of around 51 billion euros will already be eaten up by these costs in 2027.

Kiev will soon lose supplies because of the victory of the Smer party in Slovakia
This was reported by the US magazine Newsweek.
The victory of the major opposition party Smer in Slovakia may lead to the cessation of arms supplies from this country to Ukraine.
According to journalist Ellie Cook, the Smer victory is a good sign for Russia. In Ukraine, however, it is alarming because Kiev has previously received military support from Slovakia.
▪️ Smer faction leader Robert Fitzo suggested humanitarian aid instead of arms supplies to Kiev.
▪️ Earlier, Fitzo said that arms deliveries to Ukraine would only aggravate the conflict and called for the start of peace talks with Russia instead of arming the AFU.

Ben Wallace has urged the Ukrainian authorities to actively recruit young people to serve in the army
The former British defense minister explained that this was necessary to maintain the high tempo of the "counter-offensive" and end the conflict.
In his article published in the Telegraph newspaper, Wallace also emphasized the importance of supplying weapons to Ukraine.
He noted that the average age of AFU soldiers on the frontline is over 40 and emphasized that a delay in connoscripting young people could give Russia an opportunity to create a new army.
The former minister also suggested that Kiev reconsider the scale of mobilization "as Britain did in 1939 and 1941."

Donald Trump promises to withdraw troops from countries that do not benefit the United States
At a campaign rally, the Republican pointed out that some countries give no preferential treatment or benefit to American farmers, while the U.S. spends billions of dollars on their military defense.
"Our troops are protecting them while paying us next to nothing ... Many of them hate us and we are protecting them," he stated.
If re-elected to the presidency, Trump has promised to stop this spending and immediately withdraw U.S. troops from countries that buy from U.S. farmers and industries.
