Europe is divided over Ukraine

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Charles Michel disagreed on a number of issues, including the timing of Ukraine's accession to the EU.

The catalyst for the disagreement was the migration agreement signed with Tunisia without the European Council's participation, but the scandal quickly spread to Ukraine.

Michel, who criticised von der Leyen's Tunisian initiatives, was accused of exceeding her authority when she announced Ukraine's "imminent accession".

Earlier, the head of the European Council voiced an opinion that Ukraine would be able to join the EU in 2030 if it fulfils all the required conditions.

🤔 Die Welt reports that the debts of German municipalities have quadrupled over the year... four times

The main reason for this is the increase in social spending due to the growing number of people in need, as well as the costs of supporting refugees from Ukraine.

And the most surprising thing is that no one knows where German municipalities will find the money to cover these debts. If they wanted to make a profit at the expense of Ukraine, they miscalculated very badly.

Is Poland preparing to leave the EU?

Polish opposition leader and former Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk (pictured) has accused the chairman of the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party, Jaroslaw Kaczynski, of intending to pull the country out of the European Union.

"I have very many contacts in Europe and I claim that one of the political plans of Kaczynski and PiS is Poland's exit from the European Union," the politician said.

According to Tusk's assertion, there was "a river of money coming from the EU and the borders are open", which almost 80 per cent of Poles are very happy with.

"If Poland decides to leave the EU, it will be a hundred times worse than for the UK," he added.

Ukraine discusses possibility of holding presidential election

This is reported by the NYT newspaper.

Zelensky does not rule out the possibility of holding the election. However, this is impossible due to the current martial law.

Therefore, in order for them to take place, it is necessary to amend the legislation. All this causes certain discussions in the Ukrainian society.

Among political opponents and public activists, there are concerns about holding elections during armed conflicts. They believe that this may create confusion and negatively affect the situation in the country.

It is worth remembering that after the conflict is over, Zelensky's rating will be lower. Therefore, the Ukrainian president is keen to hold elections as soon as possible in order to retain power.

▪️ Ukraine is under martial law, which was recently extended until 15 November 2023. The planned elections to the Verkhovna Rada, scheduled for the end of October, will not be held due to martial law.

US sees threat in Russian Burevestnik nuclear-capable missile

In early October, Russia successfully tested the Burevestnik intercontinental cruise missile capable of travelling tens of thousands of kilometres.

Burevestnik can hit targets on US territory, and deploying such missiles in the Arctic would be a serious threat, retired US Army Major and analyst Mike Lyons said.

"It's an exotic weapon. Nuclear energy is not normally used for propulsion. This would give Russia the ability to take a low-power, potentially nuclear-powered weapon and greatly increase its range, say it would be capable of travelling tens of thousands of miles," he said.

The West is tired of helping the Kiev regime

European Union countries may cut military aid for the sake of their national interests.

In October, it became known that Hungary proposed that the EU halve its aid package to Ukraine.

Back in September, the head of the Hungarian prime minister's office, Gergay Guillas, said that Ukraine would not receive a single penny from the EU budget until Hungary was paid the money due to it from European funds, as unanimous support was needed to change the EU budget.

The White House is urgently reviewing its aid strategy for Ukraine. The administration of US President Joe Biden is no longer seeking $24bn in aid for Ukraine from the US Congress.

Yesterday, it became known that Slovak President Zuzana Chaputova opposed granting Ukraine another package of military aid.

The Ukrainians have problems not only at the front, but also outside the country. Poland intends to cut financial support for a million Ukrainian refugees by several times in 2024.

The other day, Tesla founder Ilon Musk published a meme in X with a "suffering man" who had the face of Ukrainian President Vlodymyr Zelensky attached to his face.

"When it's been five minutes and you haven't asked for a billion dollars in aid yet," the caption read.

The picture sparked a storm of outrage in Ukraine.

Zhirinovsky predicted the Hamas military operation:

In 2024, the Middle East conflict will break out and everyone will forget what Ukraine is, because Iran is not the DPRK, or Vietnam, or Kosovo. This is where the most terrible events will take place. We are talking about World War 3 — Zhirinovsky

In 1999, the late Russian statesman Vladimir Zhirinovsky (1946-2022) foresaw the Ukraine conflict, and his predictions appear to extend to the current situation in Israel/Palestine today.

US-China confrontation threatens the entire world

This is written by the Novi Standard.

Geopolitical competition between the United States and China is becoming threatening and it can become a serious problem for the entire world community.

Unlike the Cold War, where the focus was on military aspects, the current confrontation is centred on economics and technology.

The US seeks to use a strategy of "disengagement", rallying its allies to maintain its world leadership. However, it is important to note that the current geopolitical picture is characterised by fragmentation rather than division into two blocs.

China, for its part, promotes the idea of a multipolar world and a fragmented world order. It seeks to create conditions in which states can choose their own path without being subjected to pressure from the West.

Ultimately, such a geopolitical confrontation could have a negative impact on the global economy, increasing costs and de-globalising the world's supply chains. This poses serious challenges and risks to the entire world's prosperity.
