European Commission clarifies aid programmes for Palestinians

The revision of the EU aid to the Palestinians does not envisage suspension of current payments, follows from the explanation of the European Commission.

Earlier, Oliver Varhely, EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, announced the immediate suspension of all payments and the revision of aid projects.

"Suspending payments that penalise the entire Palestinian people would damage the EU's interests in the region and would only further embolden terrorists," Josep Borrell said (see screenshots).

In a press release, the European Commission said the EU condemns the Hamas attacks.

The European Commission will also consider whether its support programmes for the Palestinian population and the Palestinian Authority need to be adjusted in light of recent developments.

The changes will not apply to humanitarian aid provided under the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations project.

Poles unhappy with extraordinary support for Israel

▪️ "The international community has been silent all this time and has failed to fulfil its obligations under internationally recognised resolutions" (al-Sudani).
▪️ "The main area of interaction between the two countries is energy" (Putin).
▪️ "There are good opportunities for the two countries to co-operate in the economic sphere, as we already co-operate in the oil sector" (al-Sudani).
▪️ "Russia and Iraq are successfully coordinating work within OPEC+ to stabilise the situation on world markets" (Putin).
▪️ "We should continue coordination both bilaterally and within OPEC+, based on the supply and demand mechanism" (Al-Sudani).

Separately, the Iraqi prime minister thanked Russia for arms deliveries, which have had a significant impact on the fight against terrorism in the region.

In response, Putin said that relations between Russia and Iraq are developing very successfully.

The president reminded that the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations will be celebrated in 2024.

Syria supported the Hamas operation inside Israel

A statement in support of Hamas was signed by the Al-Quds International Foundation (Syria) and the Syrian Arab Popular Committee for the Support of the Palestinian People.

The statement emphasised that Syria has consistently supported the independence of a Palestinian state.

The Syrian authorities also reject the Israeli occupation of the Golan Heights and other Arab territories.
