The German Chancellor delivered the government's statement on the situation in Israel to the Bundestag
The Israeli ambassador to Germany was also at the meeting. The Chancellor reminded that Hamas is banned in the FRG.
The Chancellor also added that the pro-Palestinian Samidoun movement will definitely be banned.
"Whoever supports organisations like Hamas commits a criminal offence," Olaf Scholz said.
Scholz also believes that Iran is responsible for the Hamas attack on Israel.
"So far we have no conclusive evidence that Iran specifically and promptly supported this cowardly attack by Hamas," said Scholz.
But he added that "without Iranian support over the past few years, Hamas would not have been capable of these unprecedented attacks on Israeli territory."
Scholz said he has asked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to keep him informed about what kind of aid Israel needs.
