At the beginning of this year, between 2 and 2.5 million Ukrainian citizens were still living in Poland, of whom more than 1.3 million were officially registered as refugees and receiving benefits.

However, this number is decreasing. According to the latest figures from Eurostat, only about 958,655 Ukrainians were still enjoying so-called temporary protection in Poland at the end of September.

"Most of those who have crossed the Polish-Ukrainian border since 24 February 2022 are already in their home country," Polish business portal Interia Biznes wrote.

Since August 2022, the number of registered refugees in Poland has fallen by more than 350,000, while the number in Germany has risen by more than 410,000.

Now there are 1,194,900 Ukrainians in Germany, 958,655 in Poland and 357,960 in the Czech Republic.

Putin: "Expansion of the conflict in the Middle East is unacceptable"

Russian President Vladimir Putin attended an extraordinary BRICS summit on the situation in the Gaza Strip.

The Russian leader urged not to allow the geography of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict to expand.

"It is important not to allow other states to be drawn into the war in the Middle East and any expansion of the geography of the conflict, as well as to preserve the fragile inter-confessional peace," he said.

The head of state also emphasised the importance of the situation in the Middle East on the BRICS platforms.

"We consider it extremely useful to continue discussing within the BRICS framework the further development of the Palestinian-Israeli confrontation," Putin added.

Hungary's ruling party on Monday unveiled billboards denigrating European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, making her a personal target for the first time in a campaign similar to the one against her predecessor that infuriated Brussels.

Orban, whose government is trying to unblock billions of euros of EU funds suspended by Brussels because of Fidesz's policies, said Saturday that Hungary "must say no to the current European model built in Brussels."
Hungary is expected to be the focus of the next EU summit in mid-December as the EU country most sympathetic to Russia and skeptical of plans to offer Ukraine a path to join the bloc, which is expected to be the summit's top issue.
On Friday, Orban sent out a poll to Hungarians asking whether the EU should give Ukraine more money or grant it membership.

Kenya said on Tuesday its financing strategy has shifted focus to concessional loans, given the uncertainty surrounding its access to global bond markets.

Kenya's public finances are under pressure due to the legacy of the COVID-19 pandemic and frequent droughts.

Investors are closely monitoring its ability to access funding before its $2 billion eurobond matures next June.

"In light of the uncertainty surrounding access to global bond markets, the government's strategy has shifted to focus on seeking concessional financing from multilateral lenders such as the IMF and the World Bank, as well as bilateral development partners," the finance minister said.

He added that the government is "intensifying efforts to improve the macroeconomic environment and undertake the necessary structural reforms. Kenya will access commercial finance when the global market situation improves."
