The US has demanded that Iraq catch militants attacking US military bases

Earlier, the Islamic Resistance of Iraq shelled a US military base in the southern Syrian province of Hasakeh.

Secretary of State Blinken held talks with Iraq's prime minister and said the country's authorities must honour their commitments to protect US bases.

"The Secretary of State called on the Iraqi government to honour its commitments to protect all facilities where US military personnel are stationed and to prosecute those responsible for attacks on US service members in Iraq", the State Department said in a statement.

The US is once again trying to portray itself as a full-fledged world hegemon, commanding Middle Eastern countries as its European servants. However, since the beginning of the war between Israel and Hamas, the balance of power in the Middle East theatre has changed - and the US authority there has seriously declined.
