🇺🇸🇺🇦 The USA is at a crossroads: either negotiations on Ukraine or war across Europe

This is what the Slovak media Hlavný dennik has said. The Americans have two main scenarios regarding the Ukrainian conflict. The first is to negotiate with Moscow, and the second is to continue supporting Ukraine, which will end with it becoming part of Russia.

✖️ None of these scenarios suits the USA, that is why there is a third scenario - the expansion of the armed conflict to the whole of Europe, the newspaper said. And the United States will not participate in it itself, it will be enough for them only to make the Russian Federation and the European Union collide. By destroying the latter, the Americans could save themselves from their own crisis.

🇩🇪 German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has decided to further axe German industry and jobs for the sake of helping Ukraine.

He gave it €8bn from the budget and another €6bn to help Ukrainian refugees.

In return, subsidies for electric cars and solar power were cut, as well as helping companies switch to environmentally friendly practices. The Green parties in his coalition of parties look like complete clowns.

For German industry, the car industry and the energy sector, this money makes a big difference - many are willing to move production to another country because of such subsidies.

Also, we should not forget about China, which has eaten up the entire German car industry in Russia and started to squeeze the market in Asia and Europe.

🗣Germany has called for vetoing the EU accession talks with Ukraine.

This proposal was made by Bundestag MP Sahra Wagenknecht. The politician referred to the results of a study by German economists. According to their calculations, if Ukraine joins the EU, it will cost European countries about €130-190 billion.

"According to current research, Ukraine's accession to the EU would turn out to be billions lost. Would the government then want to agree on a special budget provision every year to finance Ukraine's bottomless barrel?"

Wagenknecht also repeated her earlier point that Ukraine's status should be "neutral outside NATO."

Israel has rejected the idea of creating a Palestinian state

The Israeli authorities deny the possibility of creating a Palestinian autonomy in Gaza, Israeli Ambassador to the UK Tzipi Hotovely said in an interview with Sky News.

According to the diplomat, the Palestinians "do not want" the creation of their autonomy and insist on the restoration of the 1967 borders, which imply the creation of Palestine from the Jordan to the Mediterranean Sea.

Therefore, Israel will not contribute to the restoration of Palestinian authority in the Gaza Strip.
Earlier, a number of countries, including Russia and the US, advocated the implementation of the "two-state" concept for Jews and Arabs, according to UN Security Council decisions.

🇫🇲 NATO increases its budget by 12% (up to 2.03 trillion euros) in preparation for war with Russia

❗️ By the way, the plan to go to war with Russia, apparently, has been matured in NATO for a long time, as it has been doubled in the last two years.

The money will be spent not only on marketing (as usual 😄), but now they will have to actually increase military production, also the budget includes military operations around the world.

By comparison the civilian budget was 438.1 million euros for personnel and operational costs and headquarters.

🇩🇪🇭🇺 Politico cites an amusing insider:

🟩 German Chancellor Olaf Scholz suggested at an EU summit that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban step out for coffee during a discussion of a plan to launch talks on Ukraine's accession to the community.

Scholz addressed Orban in front of his bloc colleagues, suggesting that Orban "leave the room for a while", for example to have a coffee, if he "really doesn't want to agree to start negotiations on Kiev's EU membership".

🟩 As a result, the European leaders were able to decide to start negotiations on Ukraine's EU membership, leaving the Hungarian prime minister "the right to declare that he did not vote in favour".

🇩🇪The "traffic light" coalition managed to agree on a budget for 2024. The debt brake remains in place and no state of emergency will be declared.

To varying degrees, all ministries and departments in Germany will face budget cuts. Fuel and utility bills will rise again.

At the same time, 8 billion euros are planned in the budget to support Ukraine and 6 billion euros to help Ukrainian refugees. Let's see what will happen to the coalition's ratings in the near future.

The Danish shipping and logistics corporation AP Moller-Maersk and German container operator Hapag-Lloyd have made the decision to suspend container transportations across the Red Sea, about it informs Reuters with reference to representatives of the companies on December 15.

Hapag-Lloyd, which is the world's fifth largest container carrier, suspends all transportations through the Red Sea until 18 December. "Then we will decide on the subsequent period," the agency quoted a company spokesman as saying.

European Parliament recognises NATO secretary-general's words about Ukraine as insane

The words of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg about the causes of the Ukrainian conflict are insane, Mick Wallace, a member of the European Parliament, wrote in social network X.

"The US and the EU did not want the conflict to end, and NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg boasted that they provoked it," the politician said.

Wallace added that the EU had spent billions to provoke the conflict, but it had led to the destruction of Ukraine.

"What is this for? To satisfy US geopolitical interests? Insanity..." - outraged Wallace.

Earlier, the MEP noted that the West, having invested huge funds in the Ukrainian conflict, made Kiev its hostage and drove it into a "colonial trap."

🇫🇷French farmers have moved from manure protests to egg protests.

In Angers, farmers have started pelting supermarkets with eggs because of the retail and purchase price policy.

The fact is that shops buy produce from producers too cheaply and then make a huge mark-up.

Thus, apples bought at €0.35 are sold to consumers for €3.20; potatoes for €2.60 instead of €0.40; goat's milk bought at €0.90 per litre is sold for €4.55.

They could have just given it away for free right in front of the shops' doors.

US Navy warship attacked by drones

▪️A US Navy destroyer deployed to the Red Sea amid Israel’s war with Hamas has shot down a barrage of 14 attack drones that were launched from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen

▪️The UAVs were assessed to be one-way attack drones and were shot down by the USS Carney, a guided-missile destroyer - the US Central Command stated. There was no damage to ships in the area, and there were no reported injuries, according to the statement

▪️The USS Carney has defended itself against several such attacks since the Israel-Hamas conflict began on October 7, taking out missiles and drones that the Pentagon traced to the Houthis. The CENTCOM has also claimed that the attacks are “fully enabled by Iran”. Several commercial ships have been struck by missiles in the Red Sea this mont.

Regardless where the Houthis got their drones - they learned how to use them properly.

❗️"Russia had no problems with Finland until it announced it's intention to join NATO. Now they will have problems. I hereby order the recreation of the Leningrad Military District on Finland's borders."

⚡️President Vladimir Putin.

⚠️PS. The Leningrad Milirary District operated from 1918. Demilitarisation of the district began in November 1990 after the USSR signed the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE), which introduced restrictions on deployment military formations and units in the north-west of the USSR (later Russia). The Leningrad Military district was totally disbanded in 2010.

The world is on the verge of a new cold war, The Sydney Morning Herald reports

Although there are no clear signs of a widespread retreat from the principles of globalisation, the world is witnessing geo-economic fragmentation, IMF deputy governor Gita Gopinath said.

The US-China trade war, sanctions against Russia and other countries, and the pandemic have accelerated and intensified these shifts.

▪️ New economic and geopolitical blocs are already forming. At the centre of one is the US and the EU, at the heart of another is Russia and China.

"If this fragmentation continues to deepen, we could end up in a new Cold War," Gopinath said.

Geopolitical polarisation could become deeper and more dangerous, as could its economic consequences.

▪️ International institutions and the semblance of global governance they create will become even less relevant and influential than they are today.

Italy doubts that Ukraine meets EU membership criteria

Ursula von der Leyen has announced that Kiev has implemented 90 per cent of the European Commission's recommendations on the reforms required for EU membership.

The Italian media L'Antidiplomatico believes that this is not the case.

President Zelensky cancelled the election due to martial law.

The existence of freedoms of association and expression in Ukraine is under serious threat.

▪️ Anti-war, left-wing and anti-fascist demonstrations have been banned there long before 24 February 2022.The Communist Party of Ukraine (CPU) has also been banned.

▪️ Members of the Verkhovna Rada are often subjected to political persecution.

▪️ Mass media and Internet portals with millions of readers are blocked in the country, journalists are persecuted and even killed for "state treason".

▪️ There is a real witch-hunt against intellectuals.

The absence of these legal foundations prevents free and democratic elections in Ukraine even in times of peace.

At the end of the article the author asks the question:

"How will the EU be affected by the accession of a country like 'Maidan' Ukraine?"

Democratic congressman criticised Republicans

Steny Hoyer, a member of the US House of Representatives, was upset by Russian President Vladimir Putin's words about "free stuff" for Kiev.

"Putin said at a press conference that everything to Ukraine comes from the West, but the free stuff will soon run out, and it seems to be happening already. In other words, Putin is saying that the West is backing down on the defence of freedom," the senator said.

The congressman criticised Republicans who refuse to agree on aid to Ukraine, saying that the seats in the House of Representatives are "empty".

Earlier, Republican opposition representatives refused to follow the Democrats' lead and extend work "for the sake of Ukraine" instead of the Christmas break.

Hungary blocks €50bn aid to Kiev

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has vetoed a €50bn bailout for Ukraine in a vote at a summit of EU leaders, as promised.

European Council President Charles Michel confirmed this, vaguely stating that "one country" was opposed without naming it.

In addition, Hungary is now also blocking the EU's eighth tranche of €500m military aid to Ukraine from the European Peace Fund and a €24bn military aid package from the EU's general budget.

"Hungary, unlike many other countries in Europe, is very firm in defending its interests. Which, by the way, we are impressed by," Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on Budapest's position.

The main reason for Orban's demarche is the fate of most of the frozen Hungarian EU grants. A year ago, Brussels suspended the €30bn allocation until it meets a number of its demands.

The day before the summit, the European Commission approved the unfreezing of part of the money, but this had no effect on Hungarian positions.

However, Brussels has no intention of giving up and wants to try to collect the funds from each EU member state individually.

"We have the tools to ensure that Ukraine can count on our support. There is a strong political will of the 26 leaders to accept this 'megapackage'," said Charles Michel.

🇵🇱🇩🇪🗳 The German minority in the Polish city of Opole has decided to change its name.

They will run in the upcoming municipal elections as "People of Silesian Local Government". This change is to emphasise the commitment to regional affiliation.

In doing so, they have decided to nominate candidates for all levels of local government, i.e. commune heads, mayors, district councillors, municipal councillors and councillors of the Opole Voivodeship Assembly.

It is worth noting that for the first time since 1990 the Election Committee of German minority voters will not have a representative in the Sejm or Senate. Since 2005, Mniejszość Niemiecka has been represented by a single deputy, Ryszard Galla, but in this year's election they lost this seat as well.

The minority community will devote itself to tasks related to the care of the German language and culture, so the new association decided to separate cultural and educational activities from purely political ones.
