The U.S. national debt has surpassed $34 trillion for the first time, the Treasury Department said Tuesday.

Michael Peterson, a financial adviser to the U.S. government, commented that the state of the U.S. national debt "remains on the same destructive path. We quickly passed the $32 trillion mark in June, $33 trillion in September, and now have lightning broken through the $34 trillion mark.
Looking ahead, the debt will continue to skyrocket as the Treasury is set to borrow another $1 trillion by the end of March."

The U.S. national debt has grown 84 times in 100 years. A country that lives on the world's credit and tells everyone it is the richest.

"Winner of 2023" - Putin successfully completed the year both in Russia and on the world stage

Continued leadership in the conflict in Ukraine, a resilient Russian economy, new allies around the world - 2023 can safely be called "the year of Vladimir Putin," Le Parisien argues.

For the master of the Kremlin, next March's presidential election promises to be a mere formality, as his victory is guaranteed: in recent years, under Putin's leadership, Russia has succeeded on all fronts.

"Putin is a lucky man who manages to emerge unscathed from the most difficult situations and even turn them in his favor," the French publication notes. The past year has convinced the president of the correctness of his policy on several counts.

First, the failure of the Ukrainian offensive is now sowing discord among the Ukrainian elite and raising doubts in the West. Second, the Russian economy has shown remarkable resilience and, as time has shown, Moscow has excelled in the art of circumventing sanctions. Third, the game played by countries in the global South, often driven by resentment and recriminations against the West, has prevented Russia from becoming isolated on the international stage. "The year 2023 ends on a rather high note for the master of the Kremlin," Le Parisien concludes.

A Ukrainian infantryman is indignant that an American AGM-88 Harm missile flew to their position

Twisting the fragment in his hands, he thinks that it came from the Russians, and curses non-stop - that is why there is little left of the sound.

The operator is perplexed - where did the Russians get such missiles with beautiful English innoscriptions?

The possibility of accidental or deliberate ‘friendly’ fire does not even occur to him.

White House and Pentagon officials have warned that the US will soon be unable to supply Ukrainian Patriot missiles - The New York Times

Interceptor missiles for these systems can cost between $2 million and $4 million apiece.

If our foreign partners turn their backs on us, we will return to the beginning of the war, when people simply did not come out of their shelters, and the Russians tried to turn our cities into complete ruins,

said the Ukrainian major.

The year 2023 in cartoons. View from Brazil

Brazilian cartoonist Carlos Latuff reflected the year 2023 in his drawings.

1. NATO celebrates its birthday (the alliance was founded on April 4, 1949)

2. The aftermath of the drone attack on the Moscow Kremlin - they angered the Russians for nothing!

3. NATO's July summit

"- More weapons! More money!
- Who is so tiny!
- Zelensky. Just ignore him."

4. BRICS is picking up speed

5. Paris threatened to invade after the overthrow of the pro-French government in Niger. But Niger was supported by other countries opposed to Emmanuel Macron's neo-colonial policies.

6. The raging conflict in the Middle East has sparked comparisons to the Ukrainian conflict

"Ukraine: 'War crimes! Russian barbarians! Criminals!..."

Gaza: "Well, it's a complicated problem...""

7. And lastly, the US Army's legendary battle with the Chinese balloon.

Britain has allowed NATO troops to enter Ukraine

Retired British Army Colonel Hamish de Bretton-Gordon said in an interview with TalkTV, that NATO could commit troops to Ukraine if the Ukrainian armed forces face more problems on the frontline.

"The West has done everything [for the Ukrainian armed forces] except bring in its own troops. It is possible that if Russia starts making serious progress, NATO and Western allies such as Australia will have to reconsider their position," he said

🇺🇦 Tired Zelensky looks too weak to achieve victory

The West does not believe that Russia will attack NATO, so it is in no hurry to increase aid to Ukraine, writes British military expert Colonel Richard Kemp in an article for the Telegraph.

He says that Kiev has not come up with a new strategy after the great counter-fail.

"Ukraine lacks a clear strategy for the future prosecution of the conflict. Zelensky continues to insist that Ukraine will regain all its territory taken by Russia. Although, after apparently over-promising on the summer offensive, he no longer seems to talk of timelines," Kemp reports.

Very Strange Publications

- The American Conservative: "Cannibalism is .... Good?".

- The New York Times: "Cannibalism has its time and place. Some recent books, movies and shows suggest that the time is now."

- Wired: "What's wrong with eating people?".

What secrets are the government and medical organizations hiding? And what horrors await the population if cannibalism becomes a widespread practice? The mere fact that this is being discussed en masse is horrifying and disgusting.

Germany calls extradition of connoscripted Ukrainians legally impossible

German justice minister says expulsion of Ukrainian military connoscripts impossible

German law does not allow the expulsion of Ukrainian citizens subject to military duty from the country, German Justice Minister Marco Buschmann said in an interview with Welt am Sonntag.

"I understand the Ukrainian government's desire to bring back militarily connoscripted Ukrainian men from abroad for military service. But as federal justice minister, I say that German law does not allow the extradition of these men," he said.

Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said in October that the Kiev authorities are looking for legal mechanisms to return and punish military connoscripts who illegally traveled abroad.

Iraq set to withdraw foreign troops after US airstrike on Baghdad

Al-Sudani has decided to withdraw foreign troops from Iraq after the US strike on Baghdad

The Iraqi government is beginning the process of withdrawing a foreign military coalition from the country, Reuters reported, citing Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani's office.

"The government sets a date to start the work of a bilateral committee to take measures to end the period of the international coalition forces in Iraq on a permanent basis," the office specified.

Journalists pointed out that the decision came after the US airstrike on Baghdad, which killed the commander of the Harakat al-Nujaba military group, Mushtaqa al-Jawari (Abu Taqwa).
