🇪🇺 EU to spend €210 million on 'migration management' in Mauritania
European Commissioner Ursula von der Leyen has announced that €210 million will be allocated to Mauritania to help the West African country "address the root causes of migration, provide humanitarian assistance to refugees and take tough action against traffickers."
And migration is indeed big: in January alone, 110 boats arrived in Spain's Canary Islands with 7,270 migrants on board, more than 80 percent of them from Mauritania. But instead of controlling borders and mass deportations, the EU has decided to simply spend Europeans' money.

🇪🇬❗️Egypt has decisively severed its reliance on the US dollar, aligning itself with the BRICS bloc’s strategic move towards de-dollarization.
This bold maneuver signals a broader geopolitical realignment. By joining forces with BRICS, Egypt is charting a new course that deviates from the traditional economic paradigms dominated by the dollar.

🇪🇺 The EU's top diplomat criticized the US for sending arms to Israel
EU foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell called on the international community, and especially the US, to stop sending arms to Israel in light of the growing number of civilians killed in the Gaza Strip.
He also expressed support for the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), which has been strongly linked to Hamas terrorists.
"It's no secret that the Israeli government wants to get rid of UNRWA," Borrel said, "but there is only one way to dissolve the agency [...] through the creation of two states."

Ukraine is using on the battlefield the strategy of Hitler's Germany, which led to its defeat.
This was reported by the US publication Business Insider.
The author, military observer Michael Peck, believes that Ukraine has chosen a strategy that echoes the German approach of 80 years ago.
"After the failure of the summer counter-offensive, exhaustion of ammunition and forces to repel Russia's constant attacks, the Ukrainian command is talking about switching to "active defence". It hopes to block Russia's advance, looking for opportunities to retaliate and regain ground.
"But if this approach failed to stop the Red Army from capturing Berlin in 1945, can it save Ukraine today?", the author asks.
Active defence is supposed to be conducted by large units - divisions or armies - while Ukraine conducts operations by smaller units.
The Germans conducted active defence through manoeuvres and flank attacks on the advancing Red Army. But now such manoeuvring is made extremely difficult by drones and missiles.
In addition, Ukraine, like the Germans, is clearly not ready to leave territory to stretch the enemy forces and hit them in the flank - preferring this static defence.
But even in the case of executing active defence strategies, it does not hand over the strategic initiative to the enemy, as World War II showed.
"The Soviet command could at will concentrate overwhelming forces to break through any section of the German lines.
German panzer divisions would eventually be exhausted as they acted as armoured fire brigades rushing from one crisis point to another to stop the breakthrough," the article said.
"For an army desperate to conserve resources and looking for any way to sting and embarrass a larger opponent, this is better than sitting passively on the defensive. But if the goal is to defeat Russia and liberate occupied Ukraine, this is not a solution," the author concludes.

☕️🇬🇧🇾🇪 The Houthis have left Britons without tea
Britain is facing a shortage of black tea, says The Times newspaper.
🗣 Customers were warned about the shortage of tea by local retailers, the first to report problems was a major retailer Sainsbury's. Company officials say the supply disruption will be temporary and will affect consumers only slightly.
✍️ According to the Institute of Export and International Trade, India and Kenya account for more than half of tea shipments to Britain. Attacks by Yemen's Houthis have forced merchant ships to avoid the Suez Canal by rounding the African continent via the Cape of Good Hope, which has increased logistics costs and lead times.
The disruptions will continue for months, according to Marco Forgione, director general of the institute.

France is going to supply Ukraine in the coming weeks with the latest kamikaze UAVs that Paris is currently developing. This was announced by the head of the defence Ministry Sebastien Lecornu, writes the publication Journal du Dimanche.
"In the coming weeks, Ukraine will be one of the first to receive these drones. This also presents an opportunity for combat testing of this new generation of equipment," Lecornu said.
According to him, Ukraine will be able to test the new drones on the battlefield.
We shall remind you that earlier Western mass media wrote that the USA and Britain were going to supply Ukraine with drones controlled by artificial intelligence.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has blocked the appointment of the current president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, to the post of NATO secretary-general, Die Welt reported.
It is reported that von der Leyen's candidacy was proposed by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
After that, US President Joe Biden approached Scholz with a proposal for a possible appointment. However, Scholz declined.
Scholz considers the position too important "to entrust it to a Christian Democrat from Germany," writes Welt.
Scholz considers von der Leyen's attitude "too critical" of Russia. This, in turn, could "prove to be a disadvantage in the long term," the publication writes.
The most likely candidate for the post of Alliance Secretary General is now Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte.
At the same time, Ursula von der Leyen is going to announce her intention to go for a second term as chairwoman of the European Commission, the Bild newspaper quoted its sources as saying.

The White House blamed the US Congress for the Ukrainian armed forces' loss of Avdiivka
White House National Security Council spokeswoman Adrienne Watson said that the transfer of Avdeevka under the control of Russian troops is "the price for Congress doing nothing."
"This is the price of congressional inaction. Ukraine's stockpile of weapons is dwindling. It is vital that the House of Representatives approve the request for additional funding for Kiev without delay," the White House said in a statement.
Earlier, Vlodymyr Zelensky also made the US administration "guilty" in the retreat of the AFU from Avdeevka.
He said that he had a conversation with Joe Biden, during which the latter assured that he would do everything so that there would be a positive result on the vote for the allocation of money.

Germany has published data for 2023 on exports to Central Asia and the Caucasus.
There are three hotspots for redirecting German exports to Russia: Kyrgyzstan, Georgia and Kazakhstan.
Another grey area of access of German goods to Russia is Armenia, which started to reduce deliveries at the end of the year. The cooling of relations between Armenia and Russia is probably related to this.

🇩🇪🛢📈 Gas prices will rise in Germany - from 1 April they are increasing the tax rate.
Until now, there has been a low VAT tax rate of 7% for households and gas suppliers in the crisis. From 1 April it will increase for households to 19%, as the subsidy ends. Also, already from 1 January, the price for CO2 emissions in Germany has risen from 30 euros to 45 euros per tonne, which also makes heating with gas and fuel oil more expensive.
According to calculations by Focus, a three-person household will now pay 217 euros more per year.

At the Munich Security Conference, there are discussions about further aid to Ukraine and the militarisation of Germany.
You can see that Chancellor Scholz is under tremendous pressure on the topic of Taurus missile deliveries.
In this context, Anton Hofreiter, one of the leaders of the Greens, says that not 10 billion, but hundreds of billions should be found and spent on the militarisation of the country. We must give everything to make Ukraine win, because Kiev is fighting for the future of the whole of Europe.
The neurotic Hofreiter, who combines the appearance of a homeless man with the mindset of a Wehrmacht non-commissioned officer from a Bavarian village, wants, above all, to go into debt.
The Germans could have built good 5G mobile communications with the Chinese a long time ago and could have bought cheap energy from Russia. But for Hofreiter, going into debt on a large scale is much more interesting. Never mind cuts in social programmes, never mind inflation. The main thing is to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia.
In fact, this degenerate is a mirror of what is left of German imperialism.

Instead of sacking him immediately, Labour HQ backed the candidate for the next 48 hours. It was only on Monday night that the party decided to suspend Ali.
