White House National Security Council spokeswoman Adrienne Watson said that the transfer of Avdeevka under the control of Russian troops is "the price for Congress doing nothing."
"This is the price of congressional inaction. Ukraine's stockpile of weapons is dwindling. It is vital that the House of Representatives approve the request for additional funding for Kiev without delay," the White House said in a statement.
Earlier, Vlodymyr Zelensky also made the US administration "guilty" in the retreat of the AFU from Avdeevka.
He said that he had a conversation with Joe Biden, during which the latter assured that he would do everything so that there would be a positive result on the vote for the allocation of money.

The recent Munich Security Conference showed that the majority of participants are sceptical about Ukraine's chances of winning the conflict with Russia, according to Politico.
Stepping onto the stage, the participants of the event tried to remain optimistic, but off-stage, the mask of confidence faded from their faces, giving way to a gloomy pessimism.
"Just as 60 years ago the conference started with Germans discussing with Americans how to counter the USSR, today Europeans are once again discussing with Americans how to stop Russia," stated one former senior European diplomat.
There are plenty of reasons for pessimism. The Ukrainian counteroffensive failed, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to retreat, and then there was the news about Avdiivka.
Across the ocean, a bill to provide military aid to Ukraine is stuck in Congress, and Europe is unable to provide the necessary amount of ammunition for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The potential return of Donald Trump to the White House also adds to the negativity.
Public opinion has also shifted. Citizens of the "Big Seven" are less concerned about the mythical "Russian threat" and have shifted their focus to mass migration, radical terrorism, and climate change.

Zelensky tried to soften his statement by mentioning that one cannot speak of betrayal by the USA, but his further words sounded like a direct blackmail.
"I do not see the possibility for a strategic partner to take such a position", he concluded.
It is worth noting that earlier the US Senate passed a bill on additional funding for national security purposes, including $60 billion to renew aid to Ukraine, but without funds to address the migration crisis in America itself.
