The tests were carried out as part of the Air-Launched Rapid Response Weapon (ARRW) program, Reuters reports.
The missile was launched by a B-52 bomber taking off from the American Andersen Air Force Base on the island of Guam in the Pacific Ocean.
The Pentagon confirmed the exercises, but did not disclose the speed of the new munitions. It is noted that it may be five times faster than the speed of sound.

According to Al-Araby-al-Jadid, up to 30,000 refugees from other areas of the sector are located within the medical complex.
Thousands of people have managed to flee the hospital, however, the majority remaining inside are victims of bombings and unable to move on their own.
Israeli authorities claim that leaders of the Hamas group are taking shelter in the hospital along with their security detail.
Over 90 members of the group have been killed within the complex, and Israeli military personnel are also arresting anyone suspected of having ties to militants.
