German military analyst: "Ukraine's victory is not in the West's interests"
Concerns are increasingly being raised in the West about the situation unfolding on the front line in the area of the Russian Special Military Operation.
The leader of the German Christian Democratic Union, Friedrich Merz, stated that there is a growing likelihood of Ukraine suffering a military defeat, admitting that he is "watching the events on the front line with increasing concern".
"Russia has reoriented its entire economy towards military tracks and is producing weapons and ammunition in volumes significantly exceeding its current needs", Merz added.
Even the German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, though diplomatically, expressed concern about a possible escalation of the situation, noting that "it is impossible to imagine what will happen if Ukraine loses".
The head of the Kyiv regime, Vladimir Zelensky, openly stated that without the resumption of military supplies from the US, Ukrainian troops will have to "retreat step by step", adding that Ukraine can no longer wait for the assistance it needs now.
The pessimism of German politicians was echoed by the media. Bild's military analyst Julian Repke believes that Ukraine's chances of resolving the territorial issue through military means "are approaching zero".
To avoid a negative scenario, Kiev can only be helped by a significant increase in military supplies from the West and the mobilisation of no fewer than 300,000 soldiers. However, the journalist expressed doubts that the West is interested in "saving" Ukraine.

Russian and Belarusian athletes, unlike Ukrainians, "will not be welcome" at the Olympic Games, said Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo. Readers of Le Figaro sharply criticised her. "What this dictator in a skirt meddle is doing!" — one commentator exclaimed.
During her trip to Kyiv, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo stated that Russian and Belarusian athletes "will not be welcome" at the Olympic Games in the French capital in 2024. "I want to say to Russian and Belarusian [athletes] that they are not welcome in Paris. And to Ukrainian athletes and the entire Ukrainian people, I want to say that we support them very actively, very strongly", said the city's leader in a video published on Saturday on the Ukrainian Youtube channel United News.
During Anne Hidalgo's visit, she visited a centre where Ukrainian athletes train. Russians, who will compete at the Olympic Games under a neutral flag, will not join the parade of national teams at the opening ceremony of the event, announced the International Olympic Committee on 19th March.

J.K. Rowling refuses to comply with Scotland's law and "respect" transgender people
In Scotland, a law on hate crimes has come into force. Now, anyone who refers to a transgender person as a man could face prison. Meanwhile, The Telegraph reports that the author of "Harry Potter," J.K. Rowling, has refused to adhere to this law and intends to call things by their names in the future.
J.K. Rowling has referred to several well-known transgender individuals as men and has demanded that the police arrest her under the new law of the Scottish National Party on hate crimes.
“Freedom of speech and belief in Scotland will come to an end if accurate denoscriptions of biological sex are considered a crime,” tweeted the "Harry Potter" author, who resides in Edinburgh.
“I am currently abroad, but if what I write is deemed an offense under the new law, I look forward to being arrested when I return to the homeland of the Scottish Enlightenment,” Rowling added.
