The US elections are a national event whose impact transcends far beyond its borders.
The hegemonic power’s domination of international financial institutions and systems, as well as its military dominance, puts it at the center of the geopolitical chessboard, as it has the power to suffocate the economy of any country in the world, or bomb its civilians, with almost complete impunity. This policy of international dominance, is one that has the consensus of both major parties, and one that is unlikely to have any major transformations in the event of a Donald Trump or Kamala Harris victory.
We spoke to left leaders and scholars from across the world to hear their perspective on the possible impacts of the US elections in their regions.

The Democratic and Republican parties have dominated electoral politics in the United States for over a century. Every election cycle, people in the US are forced to choose between whoever is the “lesser of two evils.”
In these elections, as both parties have pledged to continue the steady stream of support to Israel as it commits genocide in Gaza, there have been record high levels of interest in “third parties” which seek to break through the two-party duopoly and establish a new independent political pole.
Listen to activists and political leaders talk about why they have refused to vote for mainstream parties this election cycle.

As the US election comes to a close, momentum for a third party option grows.
According to Gallup, 63% of US adults agree that both major establishment parties are doing such “such a poor job” of representing the people of the US that “a third major party is needed.”
A question on the minds of many is how the year-long movement for Palestine will shape the election, particularly for Arab and Muslim American voters who reside in swing states such as Michigan.

In the early hours of Wednesday, November 6, Donald Trump proclaimed his victory as next president of the United States.
“Democrats had every opportunity to win this election with ease. But instead, they chose to betray their base, to abandon the lives of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, and to align themselves with some of the darkest figures in American history—like Dick Cheney. The Democrats made their choice, and they alone are responsible for what happened last night and the consequences it will bring to this country.”

The key question is: Why would people vote for both the ultra-right candidate Trump and progressive policies on the same ballot?
“It should come as no great surprise that a Democratic Party which has abandoned working class people would find that the working class has abandoned them,” Senator Bernie Sanders.

#PeoplesHistory | On November 7, 1917 (October according to the old Russian calendar), the Bolsheviks, under the leadership of Vladimir Lenin, overturned the interim provisional government and replaced it with a government of the people, local councils elected by bodies of workers and peasants, also known as Soviets.
Through sheer collective human efforts and the manifestation of general will for progress, the Soviet Union rapidly progressed as a world superpower with historic achievements in enhancing working class rights, women’s rights, human development, military power, science, and technology, including a space race with the US.
The October Revolution influenced liberation struggles all around the third world, and today, it continues to guide people in the fight for a better world free of oppression and exploitation.
