The death of Brazilian-Palestinian teenager Walid Khaled Abdullah Ahmed, 17, in the Israeli prison of Meggido makes it “completely untenable” to keep diplomatic ties between Brazil and Israel. This is the position of the Palestinian Arab Federation in Brazil (Fepal, in Portuguese) in a statement on the death of Ahmed, who was arrested by the Israeli army in the West Bank on September 30, 2024. His death was announced on March 24, 2025 by the Commission of Prisoners’ and Ex-Prisoners’ Affairs.

#PeoplesHistory | Today, we remember the people of Jeju Island who, 77 years ago, began an armed uprising to fight for a unified, sovereign, and independent Korea - free of US interference.

Their heroic uprising was brutally crushed by the US-backed South Korean army and right-wing paramilitaries who massacred an estimated 30,000-60,000 people on the island. For years, Koreans were banned from even mentioning the Jeju Uprising and the subsequent massacre, and those who did were severely punished.

Though they were killed over seven decades ago, the martyrs of Jeju are present in the ongoing struggle of the Korean people for a sovereign nation free from US imperialism.
