#PeoplesHistory | Today, we remember the people of Jeju Island who, 77 years ago, began an armed uprising to fight for a unified, sovereign, and independent Korea - free of US interference.

Their heroic uprising was brutally crushed by the US-backed South Korean army and right-wing paramilitaries who massacred an estimated 30,000-60,000 people on the island. For years, Koreans were banned from even mentioning the Jeju Uprising and the subsequent massacre, and those who did were severely punished.

Though they were killed over seven decades ago, the martyrs of Jeju are present in the ongoing struggle of the Korean people for a sovereign nation free from US imperialism.

#PeoplesHistory | "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." —MLK

Today, we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., assassinated on April 4, 1968, for daring to confront the three evils in the United States: racism, poverty, and war.

A revolutionary who linked civil rights to economic justice and anti-imperialism, he was surveilled, jailed, and slandered—yet never silenced.

Around 15,000 people mobilized on short notice in Paris to counter far-right attacks on the judiciary following the ruling against Marine Le Pen.

The counter-demonstration was convened on short notice by youth organizations, France Unbowed (La France Insoumise, LFI), The Ecologists (Les Écologistes), and other allied groups, following the RN’s call for support of Marine Le Pen after she was barred from running for public office in an embezzlement case last week.

“We are the majority.”

Thousands rallied in the heart of the US capital Washington, DC on April 5 to oppose Trump administration attacks on free speech and student activism, and demand an end to Israel’s relentless genocidal onslaught against Gaza.

Over 200 organizations endorsed the march. Students, organizers, journalists, artists, and workers came to Washington, DC from across the country to call for the release of pro-Palestine students such as Mahmoud Khalil and Rumeysa Ozturk from ICE detention and to declare their fearlessness in the face of Trump’s attacks.
