Demands grow stronger for Israel to fully lift the blockade on Gaza and to allow for the distribution of aid throughout the besieged enclave.
UN humanitarian chief Tom Fletcher warned during an interview with BBC on Tuesday, May 20, that 14,000 babies in Gaza could die in the next 48 hours if the trucks carrying aid do not reach the affected communities in time.
At least 500 trucks need to enter Gaza each day to meet the basic needs of its population, which is estimated at 2.1 million, according to the UN. However, Israel has allowed less than a dozen trucks to enter the enclave, and the UN teams are not able to distribute the aid due to logistical hurdles imposed by Israeli authorities.

🇵🇦🚩Protests continue to grow against the neoliberal and repressive government of José Raúl Mulino.
Yesterday, Panamanian police raided the headquarters of SUNTRACS, another chapter in the heavy repression doled out by the Panamanian state against the thousands of people taking part in the national strike. For over 3 weeks, people have been staging road blockades, industrial strikes, mass mobilizations, and rallies to demand several things, among them:
1. The repeal of a social security law that increases working hours and reduces the pensions received by the elderly.
2. The termination of the security agreements signed with the US military, which protestors say expand its influence and surrender Panamanian territory for US military bases, a concession made in response to threats from the Trump administration to retake control of the Panama Canal.
