gender is a social construct does Not mean gender isn’t “real”. our society is built on social constructs and the fact that we can re-contextualize what they mean and how we react to them is what makes it GOOD. it is absolutely a “real” thing, its our reality and i will tell you essentialism and basing your entire world view, specially what’s real and what’s not on just physical attributes is much more transphobic and damaging.

می‌دونید، من اونقدری که شاید بقیه مشمئز می‌شن، اصطلاح «اصلاح طلب» اذیتم نمی‌کنه دیگه. چون خب ریفرمیست بودن لزوما چیز بدی نیست. همه جای دنیا هم هست، رایج هم هست اتفاقا. و به قول دوستی تا از پتانسیل‌های ریاضیات و مدلسازی استفاده نکنیم که هزینه‌های رویکرد ریفرمیست‌ها و رادیکال‌ها رو با هم مقایسه کنیم، نمی‌تونیم با اطمینان بگیم ریفرمیست بودن پوچه.
اما مشکلاتم با اصلاح طلبی اینهان:
۱-داشتن همچنین mindset ای مشروط به اینه که چیزی که باهاش طرفیم، «اصلاح پذیر» باشه. من به کسی که شرایط کنونی رو می‌تونه «اصلاح پذیر» توصیف کنه نمی‌دونم چی بگم اصلا.
۲-اصلاح طلبی بدون فدا کردن یک سری چیزها برای یک «هدف والاتر» یا به اصطلاح the greater good تقریبا غیرممکنه.
Reformists often end up using violent and inhuman means to reach a humane end, or at least that’s what they say to themselves. Which is ironic, because their main criticism to radicals is that “violence isn’t the answer”
و خب سیاست‌مداران اصلاح طلب از هیچ خشونت مصلحتی‌ای برای رسیدن به اون هدف والاشون دریغ نمی‌کنن. ادمهای عادی اصلاح طلب که در صحنه سیاست نیستن هم شاید خودشون در حال سرکوب نباشن اما خب، سپردن به دست سیاست‌مداران احزابی که طرفدارشونن، که اونا به نمایندگی ازشون از روی هر اقلیتی که باید رد بشن، هر microagression ای که لازمه رو اعمال کنن و و و ….
من حوصله هیچ یک از این دو گروه ادمها رو ندارم.
اصلاح طلبی بدون اولویت دادن حقوق یک عده به حقوق «دیگری» و گفتن اینکه «حالا اول به اینا رسیدگی کنیم بعد نوبت شما هم می‌رسه» غیرممکنه.
۳-حالا اگه بخوام بیشتر از یک دیدگاه اقتصادی به ماجرا نگاه کنم، بنظرم رویکرد اصلاح‌طلبانه در مقابله با نظام سرمایه‌داری فقط backfire می‌کنه و مثل یه باتلاقیه که هرچی دست و پا بزنی بیشتر می‌ری تووش. اصلا طراحی شده که همینطوری باشه. یه مثال می‌زنم. بخاطر گرمایش زمین، شرکت‌های خودروسازی بهشون یک سری سخت‌گیری‌هایی می‌شه در زمینه تولید ماشین‌هایی که کمتر آلاینده ن. تکنولوژی غالبی که در حال حاضر برای کمتر کردن آلایندگی‌ ماشین‌ها استفاده می‌شه، شدیدا وابسته به عنصر پالادیومه. تا اینجا همه چی خوبه نه؟ پالادیوم استفاده می‌کنیم و آلایندگی ماشین‌ها میاد پایین. بعد جنگ می‌شه بین روسیه و اوکراین و روسیه از اصلی‌ترین صادرکنندگان پالادیومه. اروپا به پالادیوم روسیه برای تولید ماشین‌های دوست‌دار محیط زیستش وابسته ست. روسیه به لطف تولیدات ماشین‌های دوست‌دار محیط زیست، می‌تونه توی یک جنگی که هزینه‌های هنگفتی برای محیط زیست داره بیشتر دووم بیاره و کشش بده.

در نظام سرمایه‌داری، ایجاد اصلاحاتی که منجر به حفظ محیط زیست بشه نمی‌تونه از سطح شعار و نمایش فراتر بره انقدر که همه چیز در هم تنیده ست. یک طرف قضیه رو بخوای بگیری یه سمت دیگش ول می‌شه.
برای همین اصلاح‌طلبی از منظر اقتصادی هم بنظر من راهکار پایداری نیست.

A thought: i think the people who say “believe all women” and actually act on it are not simply illogical and on the wrong side and they do serve a purpose and add something to the metoo movement. I understand the question “but ALL of them? Literally ALL women?”. However, i think people with this belief system help to overall balance out the extreme patriarchy with which victims are met, and their ideas skew the system a little bit more to the other direction. I think this is the purpose that many radical belief systems serve and to dismiss them as impractical and “too much” is naive. I’m nowhere close to “radical left” and i don’t necessarily agree with radically leftist people. But they serve a purpose to people outside of the radical left sphere too. They help balance out the overall right wing shift and bring everything a little bit closer to the center.

+ it never hurts to believe the victim (regardless of their gender), and do the due diligence. all stories deserve attention and investigation.
