To the kid who taught me about Bitcoin in 2010 while playing World of Warcraft: You’re the reason I stay awake at night in 2025.
I've been haunted about this individual I knew back in 2009-2012. We used to play online games like World or Warcraft, second life and Eve online together. He was roughly 15 yo in 2009 and was in the guild chat and trade chat talking about bitcoin and bitcoin mining every day for almost 2 years. I ended up buying $200 worth (which i didn't hold ) I initially thought Bitcoin was a scam until about 2015. I haven't been able to find him, and I'm wondering if he's still around and what happened to him in 2025.
He's one of those individuals I stay awake thinking about at night for multiple reasons. I used to communicate to him on mumble and Yahoo Messenger, along with some online forums. He was in a high IQ society, he would give me updates on their bi monthly journals. I don't know the group but said they rarely and meet ups because its a small number.
He was 15 years old and wasn't play world of Warcraft. He was botting for gold and selling it for real-life currency on PayPal before it was popular. I know he had at least 12 bots playing/farming at any given time and had more than 2,000 items on multiple action house across multiple serves. He would corner the auction house and change the prices for the entire server to increase his profits. I never understood why he didnt jjust play the game like the rest of us. When i would ask him, his reply usually was "I have to buy as much bitcoin as quickly as possible and need McDonalds money"
I'm curiously if he was accumulating that much then, how much he has now... Maybe unexpected life events happened, maybe he's not with us anymore, maybe he lost access to it all... Not looking to connect with him just genuinely curious if he made it big or what is his story? Does he work at McDonald's? Did he create something? ... like I said, this is something that keeps me up at night.
I know His online alias was Helluvacapybara on EVE, and something like "anthonyus" on messenger, He lived in the US and was homeschooled somewhere in Colorado. He was always a night elf druid named Dendirn.
This probably won't go anywhere, but it gives me peace of mind knowing I put this out to the world, and it's no longer just my experience to live with, you never know maybe someone else has come across this induvial years ago too.
