Unity can handle huge open-world RPGs

Hello! My wife and I have been working on our RPG for 4 years.

It’s an open-world game with a 20-square-kilometer map in a single, seamless scene. For comparison, it’s larger than The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and about half the size of Skyrim.

We’ve created a huge amount of content and a dynamic world, where even there are NPC's traveling and trading across the entire map.

I’ve occasionally heard people say that Unity isn’t suited for large-scale games, but I believe they’re mistaken.

For large games, you'll need to put in an insane amount of hours and effort, and there will be many challenges to overcome, but the engine won’t be one of them. That is my opinion.
When used properly, Unity can handle just about anything. We’ve built this entire world with zero performance issues.

I’m starting this thread so people can ask questions. Is there anything you’d like to know from a technical perspective? If you're working on a large-scale game, is there something you're struggling with?

Is 5000 verts per model too much for an RTS game?

I've been making some armored vehicle models for a hobby RTS project but even after trying to trim as many details as possible and using lower face counts I can't get them much lower than 5k. Since the game will likely have many of these models on a given map, does this seem way too much? It feels like too much, but I have no experience optimising for 3D as I'm usually a 2D fella.

Help with Movement System

Hello! First of all, i'm sorry if this isn't the best place to ask this.

As the tittle says, i need some help with movement systems, i have been programming in unity for some years and this is one of the hardest things for me. I want to know if there is something to improve my understanding and knowledge in depth about this. I'm not looking just for a movement tutorial from YouTube, i want to understand how to make a polish movement system from zero and be able to evolve it and add new features on my own. I'm open to anything, free and paid courses, book, video, literally anything.

Thank you a lot for reading me and I'm happy to hear from anyone who wants to help.
