I just wanna casually do jigsaw puzzles but every damn app is riddled with ai images as the puzzles, I need a reccomendation of an app that doesnt have ai images

Why Android Users Trust Open Systems More Than Closed Platforms

One thing I’ve noticed after using Android for years and talking to other long-time users is that trust on Android seems to come less from brand promises and more from visibility and control. Android users tend to feel more comfortable with systems where they can see what’s happening under the hood, even if they don’t tweak everything themselves.

A big reason is choice. On Android, you’re not locked into a single app store, launcher, browser engine, or default workflow. You can switch keyboards, revoke granular permissions, install apps from multiple sources, or even replace core parts of the experience. That freedom creates a sense that you are in charge, not the platform. Even if most users never sideload an app or flash a ROM, knowing that it’s possible builds confidence.

Another factor is transparency over polish. Closed platforms often optimize for simplicity by hiding complexity, but that can feel like opacity. Android, by contrast, exposes things like background activity, battery usage per app, permission history, and system-level controls. When something goes wrong, users can usually identify what is causing it. That visibility turns frustration into understanding, which is a huge trust builder.

There’s also a strong open-source culture spillover. Many Android users are familiar at least conceptually with open-source software, FOSS apps, and community-driven development. Even for non-technical users, the idea that software can be inspected, forked, or improved by a community feels safer than “trust us, it just works.”

That said, openness isn’t free. It can lead to inconsistent UX, security risks if users aren’t careful, and more responsibility on the user to make good choices. But interestingly, many Android users seem to prefer that trade-off. They’d rather accept some complexity than give up autonomy.

I’m curious how others here see it:

Is there an app that lets you see AM and PM on the stats bar or lock screen?

Being able to see whether it's AM or PM without having to change to a 24 hour clock and retrain your brain is the most basic, stupidly simple feature that literally everyone would expect to be present and I can't believe android doesn't even have this.

Any good notes apps that support floating windows?

Hi! I want to start out by saying that I'm a digital artist who sells commissions, and a lot of the work I do now is on my tablet (Lenovo Tab P12). Part of my process involves me tracking time-sheets in a note app that I can send to my clients, however the preinstalled Notepad app on my device is hella finicky when it comes to exporting my time sheets as proper PDFs.

I'm looking for a notes app that supports the floating window feature (so it can pop up and be used over other apps) that takes written input and is capable of exporting my written notes as a PDF. I don't want or need one of those note apps that has an "AI assistant" or any special features like voice recording and cloud storage. I'm also looking to avoid any apps that have ads or in-app purchases, or any notes apps that are hyper-invasive.

If anybody can point me in the right direction for what I'm looking for, that would be fantastic.

ACTUALLY HELPFUL Android apps for tracking goals

I am looking for an Android app that is actually good at helping stubborn people set, keep, and track goals, especially ones related to health and cleanliness. I HEAVILY struggle with routine and often will make a routine then simply choose not to follow it. It is essentially impossible for me to do anything that isn't, in my mind, "mandatory"- such as going to work, showering, doing class work, etc.

Some say I have symptoms of AuDHD (autism + ADHD), and they would probably be right, but that doesn't matter, what matters is that I can't keep a goal or routine to save my life. Please just focus on app reccomendations and not a diagnoses. If it's a tool "made for ADHD people" that's fine, I don't care, if it works for me I will use it.

I have tried Finch and it worked for about 2 years but eventually I got bored of it. I didn't like the cosmetics for my bird, my bird became fully grown, my friends stopped using it, it felt too cringe (especially using the term "birb" for your animal friend), and it was too easy to just cheat by making a new task and repeatedly clicking "done" until I got the gems I wanted.

I also tried focus apps, like Bean made by John Greene, but those only really work for things like work or studying, not goal-setting. They work for me, but they're too specific.

I also have Notion on my phone, which is great for setting goals, but not for tracking them.

Here are some of the things I'd like from an app:

Free to install or at least under like, $5
They can have "premium" stuff but I'd prefer if it was for things that didn't really matter. I hate when apps have things that are actually important locked behind a paywall, like how Spotify is essentially worthless unless you have premium. I already pay for Spotify and Discord Nitro, I don't need a 3rd thing.
Android-compatible (duh)
Actually, in some way, forces me to do things like exercise, eat healthy, clean, etc.
Is girly. I am a girly girl. I love pink, I love Hello Kitty, I love cute little animals, all the things. The cuter, the better
Preferably no video ads required. I am ok with banner ads but I hate random video ads that make me want to just stop using the app.

I’ve been trying to find a decent background check service for personal use (nothing shady). Just want something that actually shows accurate public records, address history, and basic identity info without weird data or crazy prices.

Looking for an app that can provide “blank” permissions to other apps

I’m looking for a specific type of Android app that can grant fake or empty permissions to other apps.
For example, if a flashlight app requires gallery/storage permission, the app should think permission is granted, but it should receive no actual data (no access to my real photos or files).

MySMS Not Working - Unable to Even Find Where To Text

I've been using mySMS for some time quite happily. Today I upgraded to a new phone (Galaxy S25 Ultra) and reinstalled mySMS - and it doesn't work. I've successfully logged in and so forth, but whenever I open it it just shows me a screen with a cartoon monitor and the message "Ready to use" and the link to open mySMS on a computer. There's nowhere to actually send or look at messages.

Yes, mySMS is set as the default messaging app.

Looking for a text to speech reader that lets you save as an audio file

I really need to make some alarms that will actually get my attention, I think the best way I can do that with maybe be to have a robot voice repeat the thing the alarm is for over and over again, thus I would really love an app that just lets me type in something and have it as a audio file.

Looking for an Android app that fake-blocks calls/data for short periods

Occasionally strangers ask to use my phone for a quick call or UPI transfer.
I don’t want to hand over my device for privacy and security reasons, but saying “no balance” or “no recharge” sounds awkward or rude.
Is there any Android app that can temporarily:
Fake No Service
Block outgoing calls
Show Call Failed
Disable UPI/data
or simulate Network Unavailable
without having to actually remove my SIM or turn on airplane mode manually?
Basically something that makes the phone look unusable for a moment so I can politely refuse without confrontation.
Not looking for hacking/spying stuff just a simple safeguard that visually shuts down calling and UPI without messing with my regular usage.

App for manual notes and project management

Hello everyone,
I just bought a Tab S9 for work and I need your suggestions for an app to manage manual notes and project.
What I need is an app that have:
1) Folder for every project, possibly syncing with One Drive
2) Writing notes with the S-Pen, with multi page options
3) Integrated project management
The synchronization with One Drive is quite important, I used it a lot for work. And for the writing note I'll write a lot with the pen, my work is 50% writings notes and now I'm using too much paper 😅.
Is there an app like the one I'm searching? No problem if is a premium one, just as complete as possible.

Is there any apps or any way to download youtube playlist and videos all at once?

Since I'm trying to focus on studies i plan on blocking youtube for a while but the problem is all my university classes are from YouTube. I tried to download them from websites but you have to go through every single video in the playlist to download them so I was wondering if there was any easy way I can download it all at once. Secure airplane mode and power-off functions

What: I'm after an app that can lock down the airplane mode, and ideally all other network setting when my phone is locked or even better, when it it also unlocked. In addition an app that stops the phone from being powered off.

Why: to prevent a thief or phone snatcher from putting my device in airplane mode and defeating 'find my phone' apps, or more crucially wiping the device.

I'm aware apps like this exist, but this only prevents those functions when the phone is locked. However, as is common now, phones are snatched from your hand while it is unlocked. Also, I had a weird issue where it wouldn't allow me to use my fingerprint to unlock when using the app.

1. Are there any apps (could be two) that will do what I need?
2. Can it be done on non-rooted phone?
3. What about Tasker type apps?

If there are no sure ways to do what I need, would rooting be the only option? Concerned if I root, my banking apps will stop working. Any thoughts?
