Easy centralized auth for devops team.

Using github or bitbucket users and pubkeys to manage access to servers.

If like me you grew tired of managing SSH keys with the wrong tools.

XFCE is still a lightweight desktop ?

I've read that xfce moved to gtk3. Plus I see many stupid animation and decorations.

So is it still lightweight ?

AppImage UX Proposal

I'm glad to introduce the AppImage UX proposal I've been working on. It features **transparent system integration** (no install required), **first run assistance,** the **applications directory** and **applications file metadata.**

You can see it live in this video: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMx23bSPDeQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMx23bSPDeQ)

Installation instructions and source code links can be found here: [https://azubieta.github.io/TheAppImageWay/](https://azubieta.github.io/TheAppImageWay/)

I would love to know your opinions about it.
As this is a new project please help to share it and let everyone know about it.

Adding self signed certificate to trusted certificates

I'm trying to add a self signed cert to the trusted certificates so I can add my nextcloud drive onto nautilus. I've tried a couple things such as copying it to /usr/share/ca-certificates and then updating ca-certificates, but that did not work. And there is not many other methods that I've found searching the web.

Setup: Fedora 30, gnome desktop

The Art World needs to embrace Linux!

I'm a professional artist and, essentially, if your aren't using Mac/Windows/Adobe it's very difficult, if not impossible, to get along in this industry. I honestly see Linux/FOSS as counter cultural/anti-corporate which is in line with the ethos of many artists I know but why can't this industry break out of its corporate shell?

I'm so happy I'm making the switch over to Linux!

This has been a step I have been trying to take for so long. With months of research and confidence, I have made the decision! Imagine running an OS that is not spying on you and filled with bloatware! That's the best feeling! I love how Linux is such a customizable OS from that start. By selecting only packages you want or removing them later on, with no issues whatsoever. This can't be done in Windows or Mac without breaking another package or feature. When I first heard about Linux, I thought I was limited on software, but when I found out about the alternatives and how many of them were open source AND free, just made me flip my switch. Anyways that all being said, I think more people need to know about Linux and open source. It should be in schools, offices, etc. Think of how much money they can save by switching over. Anyways I just felt like sharing!

[Serious Question] Why the Ubuntu/Canonical hate? In quite a few posts in this subreddit, I have seen an outright hate/dislike/contempt for Ubuntu/Canonical. Can someone explain?

So a bit of background - I have been using Ubuntu since 7-8 years (11.04 onwards), But have to occasionally switch to Windows because of work. I am no sysadmin, but I do manage around 100 Ubuntu Desktops (not servers) at my work place. Just the very basic of update-upgrade and installing what the users need (which they can't be bothered to learn coz Linux is hard) and troubleshooting when they can't get similar output as Windows. Been doing that since 4-ish years. This is a completely voluntarily role that I have taken, coz it lets me explore/learn new things about Linux/Ubuntu, without risking my own laptop/pc 😅

That being said, I haven't faced any major issues, like the ones seen mentioned here. Also, neither me or none of my users are power users of any sorts. So chances are that we haven't even faced the issues being talked about.

With that in mind, I would like some more in-depth answers/discussions as to why is there a serious hate/contempt/dislike for Ubuntu/Canonical.

Thanks in advance.

Happy Birthday, Dear Linux!

In two days, on August 25, we’ll traditionally celebrate the day when Linus Torvalds gifted to the world his product – operating system Linux. This story is a unique success story – because Linus had been developing his OS just for fun, and he hadn’t planned to conquer the IT Universe. However, he did :) And we already have been enjoying Linux for twenty-eight years. Happy birthday, Mr.Penguin Tux! We love you!

Hate towards systemd?

Honest question: Why do people dislike system and why is it being removed from distributions? I find systemd pretty easy to use and grasp, would love to know why there's hate towards it.
