The best way for a fantastic partitions in Linux
Hi,
If you are newbie , you have to use Gparted software in linux as superuser.
make sure that yo have a sufficient hard drive area,be carefull when you are useing Gparted.
the first partition is SWAP partition let's say 2 G.
Second partion is for HOME 60 G.
At last the ROOT partion is about 30 G.
this the optimal partitioning way,if you anytime want to FORMAT or reinstall your Linux distribution , all your home files will be safe.
thank you for reading

Hi All,
Average Linux user here.
I've been trying to install Linux on my pc , however the computer stutters for 2-3 seconds every 2 minutes or so.
This happens on Ubuntu, Kali , xubuntu .
I mean I love Linux but the stuttering / freezing is putting me off it.
has anyone dealt with this issue before ?
CPU usage when device freezes / stutters is not high ( still freezes when CPU issue is low)
I've updated it all and also checked the driver page on Ubuntu and it says no additional drivers are needed.

Anyone working with a Linux desktop and a Macbook on the road?
I have always switched my Operating Systems, but for 10 years I'm stuck at macOS. For several reasons (more flexible desktop hardware, some projects where Linux is better suited) I intend to switch back to Linux on the desktop, but will continue to use a Macbook on the road (and on the couch \*g\*). I'm mainly doing development work, from web development (Node, PHP) to cross-platform application development with Qt. And some occasional machine learning projects, mostly with Python.
Are there people out their that use Linux and macOS interchangeably? What are your experiences? Any recommendations?

The Tinkerboard S, a Rapberry Pi clone, runs KDE withoutbissues.
I installed KDE earlier and it is running great. A few more iterations of these tiny machines will make for a very nice computer.

What makes you use Gnome?
I'm curious for other opinions on Gnome?
I never understood the need or desire for a Windows8/tablet like experience on a PC, and could never get myself to use Gnome (dropped Pop! Immediately due to it)
I personally prefer KDE, Mate, Cinnamon and Budgie for the traditional desktop.
But what makes you use Gnome? What stands out for you to use it outside of the many other DE's?

Am I the only one unhappy with Nvidia drivers?
This will come as a bit of a rant, because it kind of is, but I want to know if I'm the only one experiencing this issues. On my dual boot system, Windows 10 and Fedora (previously Ubuntu) I can't seem to get a solid experience with the propietary Nvidia drivers. I always get worse performance in OpenGL and Vulcan applications than on Windows. I can't seem to get rid of screen tearing and the performance in a web browsing and the snappyness of the desktop is worse than my old 4 year old laptop with Intel integrated graphics.
The smooth scrolling is way choppier both in Firefox and Chrome when I'm using Linux. Stable Wayland support still after all this years seems to be still something we can only dream about.
AMD GPUs and Intel integrated graphics work beautifully in Linux with open source drivers. After all this years why are Nvidia cards the most problematic when using *nix operating systems? And this is not because I have a particular affinity for AMD, Nvidia or whatever. I bought the 1060 that I currently have because it was cheaper than the AMD equivalent and CUDA support is always a nice bonus.
