I Admit, I have Absolutely No Idea What Package/Tool/Utility/Command(s) to Use for this Project? Sound Engineer Audio / Frequency

There was a specific rare novelty hobby I shared with a friend who ended up taking his life at the beginning of this summer due to severe health problems. We had many ideas but this is always different. I had gave this pet project my all, but after days of no improvement whatsoever, I gave up. Since his passing, I am now absolutely determined to complete this project, and I know it is possible because in my research I have seen others who have accomplished similar but with limited content or explanation.

I have almost hired a sound engineer to help me out and I may crosspost this to another sub, but I would at least like some background info on the system I would use or set up. I am open to any flavor Linux... Alpine to Deepin to Ubuntu. I would prefer to have this run of a Pi or similar. Also open to any applications or tools, I use terminal commands almost daily now (but far from novice).

I have an audio file made on the fly. This audio is like a low pitched Kazoo but has high pitched tones to low hum. I need to differentiate them first and foremost. Even if just a pretty good ballpark of high and low, but mids appreciated.

After that i would like to attach a patch or instrument that follows the tone pitch/semitone/frequency??? even if it is just a plain pure plain matching synced sine wave. And last I would like to have modulator knobs, which I have figured out and tested as far as reverb and pitch but could be exchanged for other mods. Bluetooth or hard wired. Just putting that in case it becomes relevant, thanks.

The audio is produced in a tube, it is much like **(almost identical) to an Australian didgeridoo.** I have used mostly Windows programs like Ableton Live 9 to Pro Tools and watched tutorials on how to do separate low/mid/high on each new program, I finally get set up usually after a couple hours each time, but everything just comes out a mess, and I took a year of Electronic Music Production in College (don't ask how long ago that was though please). I have spent days upon days without getting anywhere at all.

I believe most of the problem is with the low tone as they are more of a hum or vibration. I asked my musician friend today if he could hear the bass when I had the apparatus on and he stated "I mean I can hear it, but man can I FEEL it!". It is more of a vibration. I was wondering if I could make a diaphragm or have a filament in the tube housing that could detect the frequency and convert that to a pure sine wave? I have seen videos of people doing performances with Didgeridoos and they sometimes have a cone looking thing with a condenser mic at the exit of the Dig. I have been using both but I have condensers (sm58) and a Dynamic Mic (CAD). The tubes are all one pitch as well because of the size, but can get high to low hums and noise dependent on the flap, like lips on a Dig.

i don't even know where to restart but I know it will need to be lightweight so Linux tools are my hope. Any help at all is appreciated many times more than words on a screen can convey!

LXDE further development.

I'm using LXDE for a few years and in this year I started contributing to this project. To enter into development process I started to work on GPicView. Few bugs described in repository was fixed and some features was implemented. I created a patches, but it seems like nobody is checking them (Yes, nobody owes me anything, but a half a year?). There is no activity in mailing list, and many people, here, on Reddit, say that it's dead.

I like the idea of the lightweight DE, which gives me opportunity to use as much resources of my machine as I can, while giving simple and intuitive GUI. Also GTK programming is interesting topic to learn for me. LXDE is quite good for that and I would like to contribute to it, but if it is such poorly maintained, maybe it is time for a fork? For the begining it might be just be built with GTK2 but have bug fixes and some new features.

How to repair exFAT on Linux?

I want to use exFAT for removable media. It is now supported both in kernel and FUSE. The only problem is that I can't find how to repair it (it will surely become inconsistent at some point).

INB4: F2FS, ext4, XFS, etc. - not what I'm looking for.

Virt-Lightning: a Cloud-like CLI for libvirt to quickly start your local virtual machines

Hey! I would like to introduce a new tool I've been working on during the last months.

My day to day activities involves a lot of VM create/destroy. I use a cloud most of the time, but I got frustrated by the inherent latency of the whole thing. Especially because my laptop was perfectly able to run similar workload faster. I like libvirt and I know how to use cloud-init. I was looking for a CLI tool that allows me to reproduce my workflow, but with a local libvirt, this instead of my cloud!

And here comes Virt-Lightning. It uses a collection of local Cloud image (qcow2), prepares a cloud-init config-drive, and starts the VM in libvirt. It's fast, it's simple and it's compatible with tools like virsh or virt-manager.

It can also fetch existing images from the Internet, open SSH or terminal connection to the running VMs. The command is called \`vl\`, an alias for \`virt-lightning\`. Oh, and it can also generate an Ansible inventory of the running VM automagically, it handy when you need to run some post-configuration playbook.
