How to profile x11perf for different desktop environment?

When I run `x11perf -trap100` for different desktop environment(e.g., `kde` vs `mate`), their scores is very closely. I hope to profile which part of the slower de is the problem.

tools like `valgrind` is not a good choice imo, because both of them will report XFillPolygon cost most.

Why Do You Have A Server?

I don't know shit about servers.

I keep seeing people on here mentioning their servers. I just want to know what the hell you are doing? I'm very curious. Is it a hobby? Are you flexing? What is the purpose?

Obscure Scripts - including Harry Potter parody fan fiction written in Bash

I’m proud to announce the release of several new noscripts from The Obscure Organization’s vaults. This repository has a mixture of noscripts for both server and client environments. All code is original and MIT licensed.

Server-focused noscripts in the repository help us maintain servers and 3rd party integrations, ranging from Cloud Init noscripts to enable IPv6 on CentOS on AWS EC2, to Icinga2 watchdog noscripts, and Uptime Robot firewall manipulation noscripts.

Client-focused noscripts focus on ssh and authentication agent forwarding, and session management.

The obscureorganization/obscure-noscripts repo contains one of the only examples of Harry Potter parody fan fiction written in bash: patronus.sh (Used to banish all interactive user sessions for a user except the one you are currently running)

https://github.com/obscureorganization/obscure-noscripts

The Obscure Organization promotes creativity and community through technology - and is approaching its 25th year in existence and 18th year as a 501(c)(3) public charity.

Welcome to r/linux rants and experiences! This megathread is also to hear opinions from anyone just starting out with Linux or those that have used Linux (GNU or otherwise) for a long time.

Let us know what's annoying you, whats making you happy, or something that you want to get out to r/linux but didn't make the cut into a full post of it's own.

For those looking for certifications please use this megathread to ask about how to get certified whether it's for the business world or for your own satisfaction. Be sure to check out r/linuxadmin for more discussion in the SysAdmin world!

_Please keep questions in r/linuxquestions, r/linux4noobs, or the Wednesday automod thread._

Upon a fresh install, what changes do you make straight away?

It seems everyone has their own fresh install ritual when installing a fresh Distro. What do you change and or edit as soon as your distro of choice is installed?

I personally make the following changes.

* Change Pacman -Syu to an alias "update"
* I set my aurman to an alias "install"
* Arc Dark theme.

There's a lot more I do, but I'm curious about what other members of this community do :) You might have something handy for the rest of us!
