RAM-Disk
I first heard about RAM-Disk some days ago and it sounds very exciting. I already set it up on my Kubuntu, but I don‘t have any plan how i can use it really.
Do you have some examples how you use it or what is possible to do with this speed up?
Or / And things I have to keep in mind using it?
I use my PC just for Gaming, Surfing, Coding and editing photos, if you just have an example for any of this categories.
Cheers!

DPDK 19.11 is out! Why you should update and how to do so
The new LTS version of DPDK was recently released. I decided to test out the newest version and see if the updating overhead is worth it.

List-based tiling WM with tags and proper dual screen support?
Is there a list-based (like dwm) tiling wm with tags (instead of workspaces, also like dwm) with proper dual screen support (common tagset)?
I'm getting tired of i3's manual split management, so I tried switching to dwm. I love the list (instead of tree) based layouting with predetermined layouts. Tags are also quite superior to workspaces.
But dwm has totally shitty support for dual screens. The single-tagset patch is for a pretty old version, and doesn't even work (I haven't tried the two even older versions).
I tried qtile, but it's not tag based so it's not good enough.
Is there an existing solution to my problem or do I have to do it myself? I'd hate to do so since the 'suckless' code style is really bad and it'll take me a long time to fix dwm to a somewhat usable state.
Also, to rant a bit on suckless:
It seems quite insane to me to have a project which relies on patches for extensions, and not have a machine-enforced code style (something like mandatory clang-format and clang-tidy styles). I get that they get off on minimalism, but dwm would make way more sense if it was split into a dozen or more compilation units and organized better. I also kind of understand the animosity towards bloated compilers and tooling of gcc and clang/llvm, but not using modern tools to enforce some standards is plainly worse than the alternative.

Crossover 19 released with python3 support on Linux (and 32-bit windows exe support on 64-bit only mac)
I got this email from codeweavers:
Hello all,
I am happy to announce that we have just released CrossOver 19.0.0 for both macOS and Linux!
The capstone of CrossOver 19 is our new ability to run 32 bit Windows applications within a 64 bit process. This enables us to support 32 bit Windows applications on the new macOS release, Catalina, which removed all support for 32 bit applications in October.
This has been a remarkably difficult challenge, and I appreciate everyone's patience with us as we strove to make this happen. I particularly want to call out and celebrate the work of Ken Thomases, the senior developer here at CodeWeavers who has worked tirelessly on this for the past year and a half.
In addition to that change, CrossOver’s core technology Wine has been updated to bring much of the developments of the past year to all of our users on both Mac and Linux. These changes include over 5,000 individual improvements, all of which will act together to improve the end user experience with CrossOver.
We have improved installation compatibility with recent Linux distributions and also taken the step of upgrading CrossOver to rely on Python 3.
Mac customers with active support ennoscriptments will be upgraded to CrossOver 19 the next time they launch CrossOver. Linux users can download the latest version from https://www.codeweavers.com/account/downloads .
If CrossOver asks for registration, use your codeweavers.com email address & password to register and unlock CrossOver. Email info@codeweavers.com if you need more help.
Thank you all for your support. We hope you enjoy CrossOver 19!
Cheers,
Jeremy

Multiboot for external drive. 2 win / 4 Linux.
I have a question. After reading and looking at alot of guides I'm stuck. Here is what I'm trying to do.
I'm starting Software software development and want to setup test environments. What I'm trying to do is this.
Windows 7 and 10 on main driver (internal) 256gb ssd
3 - 4 Linux distros on External 500 gb ssd
Boot menu for when external is plugged in.
Is this possible? I can't figure out how to get the external drive setup (partition table) so I can have more than 1 distro installed.
