CLIs for image browsing?

# Does there exist a *Visual Grep*? A "grep for images"?

Hi, everyone. Terminal users:

Does anyone have a solution to searching through images? I'm talking about *image-to-text* engines (if that's what they're called). That would be more suited to images with text.

Memes, document/ticket scans, etc. Do such engines exist, and are they available? Is there a way to search for an image by a string of text you remember that's in the image?

And what about generic photos where there is hardly any text? Do terminal users use some kind of tagging software? When the default `IMG-20201230.jpg` type filenames and directories just aren't enough, what do you do?

Sorting my months or trips is good, but then if you wanted to tag some images from multiple directories, how do you do it? When the file system isn't enough...

This is one of the times I'm jealous of my phone's GUI.

The kernel on Debian Buster hasn't been updated in over two months

Debian Buster is running kernel 4.19.67-2+deb10u2, it was released on 2019-11-11, over two months ago. According to Debian's own tracker, the kernel is vulnerable to several issues.

Overall, updates have been pretty sparse over the past few months, last time my machine received an update was on December 20, almost one month ago, I believe that other packages might be lacking security patches. At this point Debian Buster can no longer be considered secure.

I'm just trying to raise awareness towards the issue, as I haven't seen anyone else talking about this, hopefully a developer can chime in and explain what's happening.

What's going on with 4.19 LTS? Support ending 2020?

According to [kernel.org](https://www.kernel.org/category/releases.html), the LTS kernel 4.19 has a projected EOL of [December 2020](https://imgur.com/a/G2wny1N), the end of this year. What's up with that? Shouldn't any LTS kernel be supported for many years?

What distro should I install?

Recently bought a new hp laptop and it's giving me a hard time installing Linux. Mainly because of its Nvidia card, some distros won't even boot, like kde neon or mint. The few that do install properly encounter other problems like bugs or wifi driver related. Is there any distro reccomended for very modern laptops that I could look into?

Xed plugin to restore session?

I have Xed open 24/7, often with 20-30 different files.

Occasionally I need to restart my machine and its a pain in the ass to remember all the files i need to open for my day to day work.

The recent files option from the file menu only shows the last 5 files.

Is there a plugin I can add to Xed that will restore my previous session and open all the files I previously had open before I restarted my machine?
