Can a pc with Linux autoconnect to a switch?
At my work there are people who say that a pc with Linux, can autoconnect to a switch if the intranet connection is down.
My guess is that they are not talking about using ethernet cable.
Is this true?
I dont think so but would like to hear your opinion.

Which has the best support for the latest web standards?
Re-phrased: with which do I "lose" the most if used for a daily-driver?
I'm working on building up a lightweight setup for use on a tablet and, maybe, an old netbook. Base system, EXWM, various TUI apps and wrappers, etc. Haven't yet chosen Alpine or Void for the base, but I'm leaning toward Void for `runit`, though I'm prototyping in Termux.

Best OS to use when switching from Windows?
I’m done with Windows and want to switch to a decent Linux distro pretty soon. However, there’s so many distros out there I don’t know which to choose. I’m not really too advanced in the realm of Linux, I can work a terminal but not too much else, so I want something user-friendly.

Linux at work: how to meet security compliance requirements?
I'd really like to use Linux for work (software dev) but am running into a wall about security compliance. All of our Macs Book Pros use some "Mobile Device Management" software to remotely enforce software updates, anti virus, remote wipe in case of theft, etc. I get the feeling that this is related to our SOC2 compliance standards.
I'm wondering if anyone else has gone through this kind of situation before, how they handled it and what the outcome was?

OpenSourceWeekly.org - A weekly letter of the best projects, people and articles on open source, curated by hand
Hi Reddit,
While developing [Bloom](https://gitlab.com/bloom42/bloom) I realized how much I love open source. So I decided to share this passion with the world. Whether it be in software, in hardware, in education, in science or in agriculture, open source have proved its superiority.
However it's very difficult to find interesting and quality content in this ocean. Just GitHub had over [100M repositories in 2018](https://github.blog/2018-11-08-100m-repos/) 🤔
So I created the Open Source Weekly letter, where you will find the best projects, people and articles on open source, curated by hand.
Whether you want to make your first contribution, discover interesting projects or people, I will do my best to satisfy you.
I think we are just at the beginning of the open source revolution and I want to contribute to spread its greatness.
First issue on February, 28th 2020.

Why I don't get rough and dirty with the Terminal
From the noscript, I expect a lot of downvotes from power users.
I've been told in other Linux forums that as a Linux user I'm expected to get rough and dirty with the Terminal, be adventurous with it, bork my own system. Yeah no.
I barely use the Terminal at all, in fact, I try to avoid using the Terminal because of a terrible experience with it, I borked my own system and I wasted 4 hours of my life reinstalling everything and getting all my music, videos and documents back from my backup USBs.
So yeah, I'm a Linux user that lives in the GUI and I only use the Terminal when I need to and I don't use it for everything. GUI for the win for me.

I installed Gallium OS on my chromebook so that it can dual boot both chrome os and gallium os. After a while, I powerwashed my chromebook, intending to delete gallium os. But then in chrome os, it kept saying "Device disk space critically low." How do I completely get rid of gallium os and free up space?

File that root gets "permission denied"
I didn't even know this was possible.
My Netgear ReadyNAS OS 6.10 server uses a file in the \~/.ssh directory named `ssh_authorized_key` (rather than the standard `authorzied_key` file that pretty much all linux distros use for ssh key-bases logins. I'm fine with this, but I cannot figure out why, as a root user logged in to the CLI, I cannot modify this file, whatsoever. I can't move it, delete it, or modify it. Permission denied.. as root.
What is this about? I get that Netgear intends that edits should be made thought the web-based GUI, but why can't root modify this file?
The `getfacl` shows no extra ACLs on the file. I'm stumped
(I hope the bot doesn't block this. I am more curious as to how this is possible, rather than how to fix.)
