Exclusively Using Terminal Apps
For those of you who almost, if not, exclusively use terminal applications, how have you been finding the experience as opposed to using a DE/GUI? What distro is best to use for this? What are your reasons for doing so?

What's the closest you can get to "pure" GNU as Stallman intended?
AFAIK all distros include various third-party software: the kernel, systemd, a custom package manager, and so on. Let's say I don't want any of that. https://www.gnu.org/software/software.html says GNU software is available by several different methods, but all of them are either "use a distro that's a mixed bag of GNU and third-party" or "here's a list of packages, download the ones you want."
So I'm seeing 2 options: download every GNU package (including hurd or linux-libre) and assemble my own distro, or download an existing distro and uninstall everything that isn't GNU. My question is, would either of those result in a functional OS?

Hi guys! Just finished the first release of my program `nff`. It creates a new file with contents specified in a config file for that file extension. No more endlessly typing out shebangs and `if __name__ == "__main__":` statements! Documentation on the GitHub repo.

How to configure mailx to send mail from
I'm trying to configure a noscript to send mail through [gmx.com](https://gmx.com)
When I run the following settings with a login account of 'uuu' (username matches the email address I'm sending from) it works. When it doesn't match, then I get 550 Sender address is not allowed, because it's trying to use from:username@gmx.com. I've looked through settings but can't find the one that lets you update the account name. Lots of things seem like this, but they trigger the same error (example FromLineOverride=YES and then -r '[uuu@gmx.ccom](mailto:uuu@gmx.ccom)'... triggers the same friggin error. I've tried putting the username into the hostname, the mailhub, etc).
So I can get it to work by just setting up a user account with the same username as the email address, but it seems like there should be a way to.. not do this, and I can't find it in the documentation. Is there any way to do this?
echo Login to server! | mailx -s "Message!" -r [uuu@gmx.com](mailto:uuu@gmx.com) [rrr@mail.com](mailto:rrr@mail.com)
[`root=uuu@gmx.com`](mailto:root=seemslegit@gmx.com)
[`mailhub=mail.gmx.com:587`](https://mailhub=mail.gmx.com:587)

The year of Linux Desktop is here!
The moment is nigh my brethren!
I've installed Linux on all the machines I can touch - my gaming rig, my grandparents laptop, my new laptop, my friends laptop, heck, even my school computer!
We're at 5+ new Linux desktops and still counting. It's really starting to have an effect on the Linux desktop market share. Don't believe me? Go look for youself at [netmarketshare.com](https://www.netmarketshare.com/operating-system-market-share.aspx?options=%7B%22filter%22%3A%7B%22%24and%22%3A%5B%7B%22deviceType%22%3A%7B%22%24in%22%3A%5B%22Desktop%2Flaptop%22%5D%7D%7D%5D%7D%2C%22dateLabel%22%3A%22Trend%22%2C%22attributes%22%3A%22share%22%2C%22group%22%3A%22platform%22%2C%22sort%22%3A%7B%22share%22%3A-1%7D%2C%22id%22%3A%22platformsDesktop%22%2C%22dateInterval%22%3A%22Monthly%22%2C%22dateStart%22%3A%222019-03%22%2C%22dateEnd%22%3A%222020-02%22%2C%22segments%22%3A%22-1000%22%7D)

How relevant is Desktop Linux for the foresee future?
At Windows, Microsoft is betting big on WSL and even on the new interface (Win UI). Apple always had a really good OS and it's improving with time.
The question is, where is Desktop Linux on all that? I'm saying this because I think with time we're gonna see even more "exclusive" features on modern laptops and devices. And they will offer a way better experience that we can get from Desktop Linux that most of the time support only basic features.
I was a heavy Linux user but switched to Mac about 3 years ago because I was just tired of keep tuning and fixing my distro so often. But there is something inside me that always wanted to return to Linux. I'm feeling torn at the moment trying to decide if I keep investing in Mac or switch back to Linux.
