What is the state of webcam driver support on Linux ?

Hi all ! Having time to spare in this self isolating situation, I was trying to read up on webcam drivers and it seems this is mainly provided by the [UVC project](http://www.ideasonboard.org/uvc/). Looking at the [git repo](https://git.linuxtv.org/pinchartl/uvcvideo.git/) however it doesn't seem to be updated recently (I might be looking at the wrong repo). Does this mean that UVC no longer has any active maintainers ?

How come there have been to updates to the [USB UVC](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB_video_device_class) specification since 2012 ? Are things moving to a new direction ?

Thanks !

Bridging the anti-cheat gap

Hello! Most Linux gamers know we can use Wine to run Windows programs on Linux. But so far we are mainly limited by the games usage of anti-cheat.

From what I understand, Wine somehow 'translates' the Windows system calls (like to User32.dll?) into the equivalent Linux system call. This is also why Wine can't handle Windows drivers as they need to be running in a full-blown environment. This is the brick wall stopping a lot of AAA multiplayer games from running on Linux.

I know most popular anti-cheats like EasyAntiCheat and BattleEye have native Linux versions, but Wine has no way of using these. I want to try bridging the gap by translating a games anti-cheat driver calls to the native Linux driver. Fingers crossed that's enough to make these games work🤞

It sounds easy enough, but I have little experience doing this kind of stuff 😂

Please post whatever you think will help! This could prove useful for the next guy even if I'm unsuccessful.

How hard is it do decrypt Wifi traffic if password is known?

Howdy,

I've got a question about security in household Wifis. I've seen people offering WPA2 encrypted Wifi with SSID such as "The password is internet" to provide free internet access. They argue that it is better to have the WPA2 encryption between clients and APs than to offer Wifi without encryption?

How hard would it be to decrypt the traffic using wireshark?

Is their argument valid?

thanks for answering :)

Best WMI Equivalent for Linux and MAC

Hey Guys,

I am sorry if this questions is coming as a repeat but I did try finding it here with no help. I wanted to ask if you guys know what would be the best WMI Equivalent for Linux and MAC. This is in reference to any RMM that wants to build equally strong RMM agents for Win, MAC and Linux.

Whatever happened to Spatry (Spatry's Cup of Linux)?

The recovered alcoholic and passionate Linux user that ultimately convinced me to switch to Kubuntu Linux from Windows 8 at the time has not made any videos in over 10 months. Now, he is under no obligation to continue his videos. That said, I have said to him in person that I appreciate his hard work and effort.

What more can you say to someone who has influenced your computing life such as helping you consider switching to Linux? Also, someone speculated that Spatry may have schizophrenia or bipolar. Do not know if that is true. Any comments or closure on that?
