Delay on a virtual machine
Hello.
I have a desire to use Linux as the main operating system.
But at the same time, there are apps that only work under Windows, and I can't stop using them (Wine doesn't offer).
I decided to use a virtual machine.
On Windows, I've repeatedly used a virtual machine. VirtualBox, Vmware. And I noticed that there is a delay during work. Minimal, but it's present.
My friend uses Linux with a virtual machine. He says he doesn't have a delay.
Installed Ubuntu 18.04, installed Virtual Box. But the delay is still present!
My question is:
Is it possible to use a virtual machine without delay?
Thank you in advance!

Minimising data leakage using Zoom on Mint
Wife needs to use Zoom for work (not negotiable), I can load the app on a Linux laptop or I can run up a VM and sandbox it into that (not preferred it's not a fast laptop). How much exposure do I have / in what way is it known to collect data on Linux ? I'm going to run it up in a sandbox on my main machine and play but I'm by no means an expert in security.
Known mitigations: I'll put on a VPN connection, won't login with facebook (won't create an account at all if that info is correct), anything else I need to do ?
Thanks for any help

To clone or not to clone...
I'm running with 2 hard drives at the moment. One drive has everything BUT my /home folder and the other has only my /home folder. My new hdd I'm going to be putting the /home stuff there because it's a much larger drive.
My original plan was to clone it from the old drive to the new one. But I was thinking earlier today I might be able to just copy everything from the /home drive to the new drive.
I figured the best place to ask would be here.
I'm running Gnome on Arch Linux.
Any insight would be appreciated.

Abusing Root Privilege
Hi, this is more of an ethics question I suppose:
I got impatient about something and needed to modify data held in someone else's account, so I used my root privilege to do it myself instead of waiting. Now I feel like I did something slimy... is this considered bad form?
Note : I did not look at any of the files, just used \`\`\`mv\`\`\`

USB ISO Freezing
I'm testing out Ubuntu on my laptop through a live USB. So far my only issue is the system freezes. If I open more than 4-5 firefox tabs, I lock up. If I have 2 tabs and a few notepad files open I freeze.
Is there anyway to tell if this is simply because I'm running from the USB?
Is there a better option for me than Ubuntu maybe, I'm trying to reclaim an older laptop with lower specs.

Gnuplot output difference between st and xterm
I use st as my daily terminal and I want to get gnuplot to work in it like xterm. In xterm you can do `set term xterm` and gnuplot will graph in tektronix. However, when I do the same in st, the output is just some random characters instead of a graph.
[In xterm](https://preview.redd.it/78jbtapqo4q41.png?width=1440&format=png&auto=webp&s=d0ec0fa6c4a5f2e25e8c11330146ff76d6d0ce25)

Whats the difference between st and xterm in this sense and why does gnuplot `set term xterm` graphing only work in xterm? Is there any way to get around this?
