Slackware 15.0 is finally released!
APRIL FOOLS! Slackware is still dead.
Seriously though, it's been way too long since the last release (14.2 on 2016/07/01). A lot of hardcore fans at linuxquestions.org don't care, but it's beginning to be a nightmare installing new programs now. My experience has been the following 3 choices:
Vanilla 14.2: Keep an outdated system, but SBo generally works fine.
Patched 14.2: Slightly more up-to-date, but there may be issues with SBo.
Slackware64-current: Up-to-date, but SBo is hardly reliable. Also turns Slackware into a rolling release distribution.
Not only that, but because the installation media is so old now, it may be an issue installing Slackware on new machines now due to unsupported hardware in the 4.4.x series kernel. At this point, even NetBSD ("the abandoned BSD") has more official releases now and is beginning to gain a lot of traction along with Haiku OS. For those of you who ditched Slackware for another similar distribution, which one did you switch to?

What made you settle and not distrohop anymore?
I think distro hopping is a rite of passage for people new to linux and I am sure you have gone through the phase as well. What exactly made you stop? What distro are you using and how long have you been using it?
