MacBook Pro trackpad: Must lift all fingers before tap
With the trackpad on my 2013 MacBook Pro using macOS, I use my middle finger for navigation and forefinger to tap. In this scenario, it is unnecessary for me to lift my middle finger to tap.
With Ubuntu 20.04 (Gnome 3.38) installed on the same machine, I must lift all fingers to execute a tap.
a) What methods are available to allow Ubuntu/PopOS to mimic macOS' behavior.
b) Is this typical Linux behavior or is this Trackpad-specific? (I don't have another touchpad to test)

Would having two drives, one with Whonix and one with Windows, in the same PC compromise my security or anonymity?
Hi,
I recently bought a new drive specifically for the purpose of installing Whonix and using Tor to browse the internet completely anonymously. If I were to put the drive in my current PC, which also has a drive with Windows installed, and simply choose to boot to it instead of the drive with Windows using the BIOS, would it compromise my security or anonymity in any way?

Where can I learn the basics on Linux Administrator roles?
I am interviewing for a job that requires a basic level of linux administration in relation to server managing. Some of the questions the interviewer asked me to know before the next stage were:
Determine largest files if you have a disk space issue and how to resolve the issue.
Restart a service/server in linux.
How to reconnect to a virtual server.
How to deal with a down network.
I understand these are google type questions but I am looking for a more hands on style or general knowledge type of learning to assist with these questions. If it's relevant the company also uses Ubuntu and a Postgresql server with python that I may need to know to. I am comfortable with my SQL commands, but the integration of these problems is where my knowledge is lacking.
Thank you for any help.

Install apps on usb drive distro?
Hi everyone,
I am tinkering with a few old computers and have Linux Mint and Pop!_OS distros on two flash drives. When I had the Linux Mint flash drive plugged in to one computer, I installed Gimp and then took it to another computer to open up. I thought Gimp would still be there but it wasn't. Is there a way to keep installed apps on distros on the flash drives? And is there a way to install the added app on a hard drive with the distro? It's no big deal if I can't but just trying to find a way to speed up installs if possible.

First of all, I love Linux...
now everything I write from now on is probably going to lower my karma to infinity.
why does everything I need to setup on linux has to go through a terminal or editing some conf files?
why do I have to do research everytime I need a solution for something in endless threads on endless forums?
I´m a programmer now for almost 20 years, if I have to say my speciality would probably be making user interfaces, and my passion would be making games.
that being said, user interface in linux is pure absolute crap, it feels like I´m in the 70s or something, everything is done as a CLI, user friendly might be considered blasphemy for all I know.
it feels like everything mac and windows do is hated in such a level that linux developers refuse to acknowledge anything good about it.
there, I said it.
unfortunately I have no deeper knowledge into OS programming and can´t do anything to help, if you´re thinking about commenting something like "hey you little shit, why don´t you help?" and you know what? I want to help, but it feels like I need to go through endless forums just to learn basic stuff, and I´m really sorry if I´m not smart like you guys, but I´m not an idiot either, I know concepts like multi processing paralellism, manual memory management, compute and graphics shaders, also basic stuff like file system access, parsing and serializing, encryption, hashing algorithms, raymarching, celullar automata and some other stuff, and also I am a data scientist that uses python with keras to do some analytical stuff, but most of it are just as a hobby.
but MAN does it feel like it is intentional that you guys are making it difficult, by making it only accessible for those who you deem worthy, and I know that if I feel this way there must be others.
</rant>
please, PLEASE, point me in the direction where there is good, well documented instructions on how everything works inside Linux, so I can start making really cool GUI for setting up all kinds of shit for Linux, and I´m sorry, I have ADHD and reading is not really easy for me, so it might be just me
thank you for everything you guys do, besides GUI, you have done amazing things not just for me but for society and humankind
and please don´t hate me, I just needed to get this off my chest
EDIT: I just thought there might be a queue for something that needs to be done to improve linux, like a roadmap or something, maybe I can start there picking stuff I enjoy doing

New Linux distro.... thoughts?
Hi, I'm a cybersecurity instructor and we are starting to introduce our new students to Linux. My friend created this open source project, called YetiDesk, that I'm using in my classroom environment to get students more comfortable with Linux and gives them a better desktop experience from stock Ubuntu. I thought I would share, and I hope you find it helpful! My students have found it very easy to use as they transition from the “mainstream” OS’s out there.

CPU temperature management in linux is joke
Look what is happening with cpu temperature just by scrolling up and down web page in firefox. This is on Manjaro KDE but i have this issue with any distro i install on my laptop. Repeating the same on Windows 10, which i have also installed on the same laptop, is not even registered by the cpu.

Could you check my iptables rules?
Hi!
I read a few webpages and wrote the following iptables rules.
The goal is to block all incoming traffic, unless it was initiated from this computer.
Do you think the rules do that? Is this set of rules going to protect the computer from internet threats?
Thank you!
Here are the rules for ipv4:
# iptables -L
Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT)
target prot opt source destination
ACCEPT all -- anywhere anywhere
REJECT all -- anywhere 127.0.0.0/8 reject-with icmp-port-unreachable
ACCEPT all -- anywhere anywhere state RELATED,ESTABLISHED
LOG all -- anywhere anywhere limit: avg 5/min burst 5 LOG level debug prefix "iptables denied: "
REJECT all -- anywhere anywhere reject-with icmp-port-unreachable
Chain FORWARD (policy ACCEPT)
target prot opt source destination
REJECT all -- anywhere anywhere reject-with icmp-port-unreachable
Chain OUTPUT (policy ACCEPT)
