3060TI On Linux Ubuntu ?
I have linux on a bootable USB, however since installing my 3060ti the only resolution I can set is 1024x768 which is awful on a 43" TV.
If I were to install it to my Hard drive, would I be able to change the res. ?

I installed the drivers and now it works fine

CPU temperature management in linux is joke
Look what is happening with cpu temperature just by scrolling up and down web page in firefox. This is on Manjaro KDE but i have this issue with any distro i install on my laptop. Repeating the same on Windows 10, which i have also installed on the same laptop, is not even registered by the cpu.

Could you check my iptables rules?
Hi!
I read a few webpages and wrote the following iptables rules.
The goal is to block all incoming traffic, unless it was initiated from this computer.
Do you think the rules do that? Is this set of rules going to protect the computer from internet threats?
Thank you!
Here are the rules for ipv4:
# iptables -L
Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT)
target prot opt source destination
ACCEPT all -- anywhere anywhere
REJECT all -- anywhere 127.0.0.0/8 reject-with icmp-port-unreachable
ACCEPT all -- anywhere anywhere state RELATED,ESTABLISHED
LOG all -- anywhere anywhere limit: avg 5/min burst 5 LOG level debug prefix "iptables denied: "
REJECT all -- anywhere anywhere reject-with icmp-port-unreachable
Chain FORWARD (policy ACCEPT)
target prot opt source destination
REJECT all -- anywhere anywhere reject-with icmp-port-unreachable
Chain OUTPUT (policy ACCEPT)
target prot opt source destination
ACCEPT all -- anywhere anywhere
Here is for ipv6:
# ip6tables -L

REJECT all anywhere localhost.localdomain reject-with icmp6-port-unreachable

Emotional Investment in Linux
I wrote a blog post recently on Emotionally Investing Yourself in Tools. To be completely honest, Linux is the "tool" that I had in the forefront of my mind.
For me the constant is Linux. It's comfortable and very familiar. When I have to use another OS it just doesn't feel like home. To say I'm emotionally invested in Linux is quite an understatement. It's absolutely a large part of my life, and part of my personal identity.
I wrote down a few of these notes in the blog post above. It's really easy for me (us?) to not question things from time to time, but I think it's a healthy approach.
Sorry if this post doesn't belong here. Mods, feel free to remove if not good.

Is there a notetaking app with LaTeX Equation Editor and drawing?
Hi
I thought about switching one of my computers to Linux to try it out. But before I do, I want to know if there is any good notetaking app supporting Linux. I'm currently using Notion because it provides components I need for notetaking, which are Databases and LaTeX Equation Editor.
So I'm just wondering if there is an application for Linux where you can write text, write equations and draw Graphs and Geometry.
But any recommendation is much appreciated.

This is why I switched to Linux:
1. It's buggy when you load an app or a text file.
2. It's bloated with junkware.
3. It's slow on bad hardware if you try to play a game or a video.
4.They Removed the option to downgrade to any previous version of Windows

Simplest network downtime logger?
I want a simple open-source Linux program that will log network downtime. I want something super simple. Either a graph or a table with the network downtime is all I care about. I don't care about the ping time or the network speed. I just want a list of outages with their date/time and duration.
I've looking into advanced solutions like netdata and smokeping, but they're too overkill in my opinion. I just want something I can use to directly compare ISP downtime.

USB Gadget Boards?
I've used a BeagleBone Black to create a USB gadget in the past. I'm currently contemplating a project that would want to create several gadgets controlled by a single PC, though, and I've not been able to find a board that allows that.
Does such a thing exist--either as a singleboard product like the BeagleBone or as an add-on card like a PCI card? Has anybody heard of someone attempting to do something like this with off-the-shelf hardware? Simple googling has not been effective.

I have a ton of work due, and an interview tmrw.

Coming from windows and missing some features in common desktop environments. Can you help me find them ?
Hi, these features are:
Drag&drop of URLs from the browser bar into a folder which automatically creates an URL shortcut there. I use this to create and manage bookmarks.
Quickly create shortcuts (symlinks) via right-mouse drag&drop-> create shortcut.
Shell here (not from windows, but a must have imho! I don't know why MINT Mate's file explorer doesn't offer this)
Dock windows to the left, right, maximize, restore, move them to another monitor via keyboard shortcut (this is so easy and intuitive in windows with just win+arrow keys)
Allow copy and&paste of the current location in the file explorer AND file chooser dialog. Mate has is in the file explorer only.
An easy way to create shortcuts to favourite folders (in windows you can just right-mouse drag them on to the task bar, then you have a 2-click access to them from the task bar)
These are so basic things that improve productivity and i care about them so much more than any new fancy widgets or themes. Can you point me some tips where to find them ?
Also a dektop wide (DPI) scale factor would be nice.
