Suggest me a distro to multitask faster

I was windows 10 x64bit in 4 gb ram, core i5 8265u processor, 1tb hdd and no ssd.. So i was feefing so lag and slow in windows.. That's why i need to shift to distro. All i care abt multitasking..

1. i want to coding in vscode
2. i want to run mulitple tabs in browser with youtube.
3. i want to run spotify also or some other apps..

Plz suggest me a proper faster distro so that i can do multitask faster.

My laptop won't boot up on first try.

Can somebody help me with my laptop?
I have a Toshiba Satellite C50-A-1JM.
The problem is that when I try to turn it on, nothing appears on screen and the DVD drive is starting for a slit second and then complete silence, only the power LED is the only sign of life. I have to force restart the computer using the power button 5-6 times until it boots.
I tried everything on the internet but nothing worked.
Please, I need help.

JC v1.15.0 released - JC converts command output to JSON

Today marks a huge release for jc. Version 1.15.0 now includes a 70 parsers and dozens of new features and parsers. New parsers include: acpi, upower, /usr/bin/time, dpkg -l, rpm -qi, finger, and dir (Windows).

Get this error when shutting down (tried multiple distros)

Anyone have any ideas to fix this issue? This is with Popos. Everything works including restarts, sleep etc... but when you shut it down this happens? Thought it might just be because of PopOS so I tried Elementary OS, Manjaro and Linux Mint and all have the same/similar shut down issue. Any insight would be appreciated.

Linux switch simulating a network outage

Hey r/linux

I have a switch running Linux with multiple devices connected to it.

I'm attempting to simulate a network outage on one of the ports. Say the port is swp1.

I've tried with both tcand iptables

tc qdisc add dev swp1 root netem loss 100%

and

iptables -A INPUT -i swp1 -p all -j DROP

However, packets coming from and going to the device aren't dropped.

Any idea on how I can force packets going to the device on interface swp1 to drop?
