Will minux ever make a comeback?
As far as I can tell, the minux approach of running less code in the kernel (with elevated privileges) seems like a better design decision.
Will minux (or similar) ever take off?
Or is there just too much effort already vested in linux to bother?
Or am I just missing something?

Looking for purity in Arch Linux
In my previous installment, I decided to go for an Arch derivative, and the pseudo-scientific rating gave ArcoLinux as the winner. But is there any “purer” Arch, something with as few as possible additions and customizations, so I could only add what I want…
Horrendous Debian login reboot loop!
Learned an important lesson today: be VERY careful creating/editing the /etc/environment file in Debian! I lost all ability to login (both GUI and CLI). No helpful output (including logs from recovery boot); just a blank login loop. Searched for HOURS on the net trying to narrow down the issue, with no luck. Tried all the usual: fsck, disk space, shell, PAM etc. The kicker is, all I was doing was setting an LD_LIBRARY variable for Fortran! I'll never touch/edit THAT file again...

Can't turn on Bluetooth on a Lenovo IdeaPad 330 running pop-os
Bluetooth works from time to time, most of the time I tried to power it on using both the GUI and the "bluetoothctl power on" command, but when I use "bluetoothctl show" to display my controller info, it says my controller is powered off.
Sometimes when my Bluetooth actually turns on, My wifi suddenly stops working.
Any idea on how to fix this?

Why all linux ebook readers suck so much?
So recently I began to enjoy reading books just before sleep in my bed on my linux laptop (fedora 34). I'm currently reading Harry Potter series. I like to have ebook reader on right half of my screen so I can open up browser on the other half, and look up words in dictionary that I dont understand. Light in my room is very dim, so dark theme is must have, and my laptop screen is also on minimum brightness. First ebook editor that i picked up was calibre, it worked pretty well for a while, I also managed to setup VIM like key bindings so i can scroll with J, K buttons. So the issues that I have:
1. table of contents is all messed up:
https://preview.redd.it/p1kc1m814xt61.png?width=1300&format=png&auto=webp&s=b192af4210b2e0f77ec7706d3a526077b38528c9
2. When you encounter illustration, it's very small, so naturally you click to expand it to look at it in better detail.
https://preview.redd.it/ngxb3ri64xt61.png?width=1300&format=png&auto=webp&s=b54b09475e8accc9070db0ba8521233b70adbf12

When you aer done looking at it, you want to go back to reading. NO you cant, tried pressing all buttons imaginable, ESC, ENTER, SPACE, BACKSPACE and so on. Only solution is to close calibre, and open it up again. Thats ridiculous!
3. Yesterday I was reading and wanted to increase font size so i tried to press CTRL + '+' but i think i pressed something else, and application crashed, and somehow partly CORRUPTED my EPUB file. Now callibre cannot open this file anymore, i get following error:

I tried even opening this file on my other machine with calibre installed, same error. I opens up previous copy (Lucky that I was reading copy, on my laptop).

So i got pissed and started looking at the alternatives to calibre:

The best Linux book I have ever read is "Harly Hahn's Guide to Unix and Linux" which published in 2008.

The sentences inspire me most are:

ConnecMan - open source puzzle game
Hi!
I wanted to share with you my recently published puzzle game, ConnecMan. It is actually a remake of a game I created about ten years ago with the now obsolete XNA framework from Microsoft.
It's now open source and there's a deb package ready to download and install for Debian-based distros. It can be run easily in many other distros by installing Ruby and MiniGL.
Hope you have fun with it. Thanks!

Linux laptop for gaming and school
So I'm going to get a new laptop for college in the coming months. And I want to be able to game on it. Like being able to run modern games at the lowest settings is fine, as long as they are playable. I don't really game on pc, but that's mostly because I haven't had the hardware capable of running games I want to play. So that's something I'm planning on picking up.
The thing is I'll want to run linux on it, for pretty much everything else except gaming. Do you know any relatively new laptops that'll be able to do all that?
Macs are out because I don't really like apple. plus they're really expensive

Any thoughts on the Facebook data leak?
I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but I would say yes. Cause the Linux community are usually on the forefront of tech, and are always sceptic of big tech.
I (finally) deleted my fcbook, I deleted my twitter sometime ago, and looking forward to deleting my whatsapp.
At the end this is the mandatory part where I remind that facebook, twitter, whatsapp, youtube, ... are not your friends, and you should get rid of them, or at least be actively looking for an alternative.
And finally this is the part where I tell that, I use arch, btw.

What's the best distro for my old laptop?
I was planning to use mint cinnamon, although it's old but I wanted the OS to be fully featured. The laptop's CPU : Intel centrino dual core 2.26gh Ram : 4 GB 533.3 MHz ddr2. But not only the ram is slow, the hdd is also really slow. The ram size and the CPU are capable to hold a fully featured OS and obviously I would prefer it, is it too far to fetch and should cave into using a light distro (like pubby or mint xfce) or I can pull mint cinnamon? Or is there another distro that would fit this?

Gnome Shell 40 inconsistency
Gnome Shell has an hot corner, in the upper left side of the screen. It used to be consistent in terms of usability as you had the dock right nearly the hot corner.
Now the dock moved in the bottom of the screen. How's useful having an upper hot corner of you have to go to the bottom to choose an icon from the dock? Would a left bottom hot corner be more useful from a usability way?
I know there are extension for everything, from dash to dock to the one that kicks your dog, but I'm just talking about the design choice of default shell.
