Since today, linux is the first OS to fly on a different planet.
I just learned that Ingenuity, the Mars helicopter, runs linux, making that the first OS to fly on another planet.
That's one for the history books alright. Makes one feel proud to use it. Also, it shows the sheer versatility and reliability of the OS.
Mr Torvalds, you created something very special.

Based on a thread in /r/linuxmemes, I made an interactive challenge in docker to test if you can delete files with weird characters safely
If anyone wants to be the first to try it and give me some feedback:
docker run --rm -it public.ecr.aws/p5e0b0g4/kjpgit/linux-jedi-challenge:latest
That's it. It's ubuntu 18.04 based, no tab completion :-)

What's the deal with Bryan Lunduke?
I used to watch him a couple of years ago, but it seems that stuff happened. I'll give you a few examples, but I don't see him being mentioned too much anymore, despite the fact he seemed to be quite prominent back when I watched him.
My examples: the HTTPS insecure stuff, conspiracies, his leaving social media and coming back several times, the fluctuation of paywalling his content, and more. I'm very confused as to what happened—why he's not as prominent anymore, and what happened in the interim between the time I stopped watching him (\~2018ish) to now. Can someone fill me in?

Can binaries for Linux work on different architecture or re-compilation is needed?
Linux can run on different platforms, including different ISA's. I was wondering if any binaries are used for x86 Linux, can it then run natively on arm, or Risc-V? Or does that software need to be compiled again for that specific platform?
Thank you so much in advance!

When you are addicted to noscripts in lfs
I use scratchpkg as a lfs package manager.
Long story short to avoid having to search manually for updates for packages on the internet I wrote a few noscripts to do it for me during a cron job.
https://github.com/voncloft/Voncloft-OS/blob/master/utilities/checkrepository
May be "risky", probably lazy but it works for me lol.
