Visp = Vi+Spotify, an interactive client written in Go

Hi /r/linux,

Visp is Vi+Spotify, an interactive console client for Spotify, written in Go. Its interface is similar to Vim, and aims to be fast, configurable, and practical.

This interface has many features that involve sorting, searching, and navigating. It’s designed to let you navigate your music collection effectively and efficiently.

This project is a fork of Practical Music Search and contains similar functionality, but is geared towards Spotify instead of Music Player Daemon. I considered tweaking the original client to work well against Mopidy, but ultimately decided against because it would constrain the user interface.

So here it is. The project is still in the early stages. Most of the core functionality is implemented, and the documentation is pretty good. Maybe you'd like to give it a spin and tell me what you think and what features would be good to implement. Code contributions or security audits are also welcome.

Binary builds are available for download on Github, for Linux and MacOS, and on ARM and Intel architectures.

TPM for RHEL?

I'm having a little trouble understanding TPM with Linux (RHEL) and had a few questions

​

1. It seems that TPM is a physical hardware chip located on the motherboard, so does that mean only physical linux devices that already have a TPM chip can utilize TPM?
2. If a physical machine does not already have TPM how can we get TPM on it?
3. How can we get TPM on virtual machines?

I teach Linux for free link in comments

You might have seen a similar post before, I am making this post again because of various reasons

1. People could not join because they couldn't pm me (some people wanted the link to be here.)
2. I want people of all experience levels as the server is more than a teaching server I want it to be a server for everyone who is interested in Computer science, open source, and linux things.
3. As the server is growing I need more teachers and mentors so that the quality remains unaffected.

I try my best to show people the power of open source and linux.

Im trying to make a list of how to pronounce MOST Linux distros.

The correct way of spelling all “MAIN” Linux Distros (Not in a order)

1. Ubuntu : Oo-Bun-Tu (Nguni Bantu term that means “Humanity”)
2. Pop!OS Pop-O-S (No Information on why it’s called Pop!OS)
3. Arch : Arch (Due to the logo looking like an arch.)
4. Manjaro : Man-Jaro (As in mount killmanjaro)
5. Debian : Deb-ee-Ian (The merge of the creator’s ex-wife name and his name Debra + Ian)
6. OpenSUSE : Open-SU-SA / Open-SU-SUH (Stands for Software und System Entwicklung)
7. Solus : so-lus ( Just means alone :( )
8. Endeavor : En-Deav-Or ( to strive to achieve something )
9. Zorin : Zor-in ( Looked everywhere, can’t find a reason that it’s called this. Although I found that it means a highly confronting drunk man)
10. Gentoo: Jen - Too (a species of penguin)
11. Rasbian : Ras-bee-ian (Fusion of rasberry and debian)

On Hardware for Linux website, are some good reference statistics for the most used Linux distributions. They are obtained from people who have probed their computers on the their website.

As you will see below, the things are changing:

Technical question about the scheduler

When learning about the current scheduler for regular jobs (the totally fair scheduler, I think), it was mentioned that it uses a red-black tree. I asked about the insertion/removal complexity, because the key used for ordering would change at different rates (based on the nice factor) and do you couldn't rely on regular RB tree algorithms. The response I got was that if there are this many jobs, you're overloading your CPU anyway and you'll have worse problems to worry about.

My question is: why use a red-black tree in the first place, then? If the expectation of 8 jobs in the queue (example that the instructor gave) is too big, why not use a simpler data structure?

If this is the wrong place to ask, please direct me to the correct one :)
