Gravit Designer - Best Design tool for Linux

As a professional graphic designer/UX designer, who recently came over from Mac and Adobe, Gravit Designer is far and away the best graphic design tool out there on Linux. At least for what I do. Even the free version. Everything else falls terribly short in one area or another. But this one is the most consistent and easy to pick up. Definitely give it a try.

New to programming

Hey,
I am new to programming and I know nothing about programming setups to start, so I have a windows laptop and I wanna run linux on my laptop.

Somebody told me about ubuntu/debian with a dual boot. I googled a lot about how to do everything but I am still confused.

Can somebody please tell me about how to get ubuntu on a laptop/PC.

Plzz.

Realized I hate GNOME 3.

So I was messing around on my laptop yesterday with the two current Ubuntu LTS releases, 16.04 and 18.04, and I realized something. GNOME, while usable (barely), is a bloated, slow piece of crap. Unity, on the other hand, performs very well and has good visual effects to boot. In GNOME, I had to dig around on the menus to connect to a hidden WiFi network. In unity? It is literally right there. Unity is a much more intuitive UI, and faster. On my 2006 Mac Mini, GNOME, well, slideshows. Unity doesn’t perform great, but it works a TON better.

Disco Dingo ASCII

Does anyone know if there has been ASCII art made of the Ubuntu 19.04 logo? It seems just perfect to use in something like neofetch

Just Curious. About Systemd and why it's taking over?

I got into Linux a few years back and I've always used Systemd, I had no clue there used to be another way. Recently I moved to Void Linux to see what I was missing. I was a bit confused at first but making sym links and using sv is pretty straight forward. It seems to boot faster on my machine then Arch and honestly makes more sense to me. But now I don't understand the need or even want for systemd. It seems confusing (insert conspiracy theory here). I feel like I can understand why people don't like it more then do. Maybe I missed something?. it seems to do way more then it needs to. I was thinking I would end up liking sysd more not less, IDK just my opinion ATM.

Help me switch to Linux

So I want to make the switch to Linux but there are some things to consider I hope you can help me with:

1. I am highly dependant on G Suite products and therefore need Google Drive, what is my best option for syncing?

2. I mostly work with docs and sheets by Google so I need the full Chrome browser without any limitations, no Chromium

3. I still need some Windows apps (i.e. Photoshop, FileMaker), is it better to do it in Virtual Box or by DaaS?

4. I really much need development environments like Anaconda for Python and R as well as Flutter for mobile development

5. I don't really care about distros as long as it's well supported and user backed, so not too exotic

6. It is supposed to run on my Dell XPS 9570, how about the graphics and the sleep states here?

Thanks in advance for your help!

This Data file is on the same drive as my Linux. As you can see, right now it is only readable, but sometimes it is readable/writeable. I can access it only on random days. However, I can always read/write it if I am booting from windows. Any ideas? [Linux Mint]
