lost new Linux user who made a mistake

All right, I'll try to keep this pretty quick. I'm working towards a career in IT(yeehaw a+ cert) and wanted to fully immerse myself in learning the basics of Linux. So I did a clean install of Cinnamon over my W10 install so I'd have no choice but to try and figure out issues I run into.

It's been going swimmingly for the past couple months, I've been really enjoying it aside from some random freeze ups I haven't been able to figure out. But now I want to go back to windows and cinnamon dual boot.

Here's where the problem arises: I can't get my bios to recognize my W10 USB as a bootable device. It recognized a backtrack bootable USB but it isn't getting the windows one. I also cannot use legacy boot. I have an AMD Huawei matebook d and the bios is very restrictive. I can disable safe boot and tpm but that's all that I can change related to booting. I tried adding a bios password because I guess that sometimes unlocks other bios features, but that didn't work either. I've tried disabling the SSD to see if it would default to the w10 stick with no luck.

I've tried to look into using grub to force boot to the w10 stick, but my knowledge is too lacking for that. Tomorrow I might try installing a virtual copy of windows 10 and making bootable media from there to see if that does it for some reason.

Does anyone have any advice? Was I on to something with grub or might it work from a w10 VM?

trying to make a bootable windows 10.

Hello i am a new linux user and am curently on a debian based OS called "Parrot security OS" and want to make a bootable windows 10 with a usb. I have looked up on youtube but the "sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nilarimogard/webupd8" dose not work, so i am looking for a way to do it and have had no success. Plz help.

Looking for a Linux alternative to WinToUSB.

WinToUSB makes an actual Windows 10, not just a Windows 10 installer. If there is not an alternative, can I just install Windows on a vm and copy the files to a USB?

Snippets & Code repository with collaboration

Maybe it's not the most suitable sub for this question as it's more software related, but since it must be used in a Linux environment i'm asking here.

So far [Cacher](http://cacher.io) is the most suitable tool for what i'm seeking to achieve, but since the team & collaboration capabilities are based on a monthly subnoscription i'm looking for something else.

Gists and a collaborated git repo are alright, but a bit less convenient and intuitive (compared to Cacher).

Is there any other service/tool for code sharing which has at least the basic collaboration capabilities with no extra charge and subnoscription fees?

Do you think there are more programmers working on MacOS or working on GNU/Linux?

My friend and I were talking about this the other day, and I'm curious on what this sub thinks. Do you think there are more people actively working on MacOS or GNU/Linux operating systems? We were only considering programmers working on the operating systems themselves (kernel, apis, and lower level stuff) and their user interface, so this includes the people working on the art direction and design for MacOS, as well as people who do the same for Gnome, Kde, etc. Applications which might come packaged on installation are not included, Libre Office, GarageBand, web browsers, stuff like that. What do you folks think?

best practices for contributing to currently in use tools?

I'm trying to get into contributing to open source development. I've forked a couple repos to my personal github and wrote this [noscript](https://github.com/skewballfox/arch-install-noscripts/blob/master/automata/git_synced) that I will soon turn write a service for to make sure that my fork is kept up to date with the master branch. I've forked mycroft, a couple of packages related to xi-editor, and openmw. I'm thinking about forking OpenMined(I really want to get into automated self tracking and think this would be a good client-side project for something using federated learning). Thing is I plan on actually using these packages on my machine, but also want to keep my system stable. Up until this point I've only wrote noscripts and services, and left larger programs to the package manager, so my knowledge of package management has been limited to tools like makepkg. I've also never really played around with software testing or profiling, outside of using timers and manually testing edge cases.

What are some good practices to adopt in order to both use and improve the tools like I would any other terminal program, while keeping my package up to date with devel, not overwriting my personal changes(ie git stash),automating this process(with something like buildbot) and avoiding bricking my build? it's totally okay if the package gets bricked, I mainly just want to make sure that the system doesn't go with it.

Linux college or tech courses?

Interested in going back to school to learn more about linux and hopefully make it a career choice. Is there a data base that can narrow done courses near me? I'd really like to do it hands on in a school setting. Would appreciate some input, also I live in Central Pennsylvania.

Improvement with Kernal 5.1.6-050106

Updating my Linux kernel version to 5.1 made my Bluetooth completely functional !!!!!
