Help with geny motion
I installed virtual box through the software manager of Linux Mint. I installed geny motion following these directions: [http://techapple.net/2014/07/tutorial-installsetup-genymotion-android-emulator-linux-ubuntulinuxmintfedoraarchlinux/](http://techapple.net/2014/07/tutorial-installsetup-genymotion-android-emulator-linux-ubuntulinuxmintfedoraarchlinux/)

making sure to change the name of the file to meet the download. Geny motion attempts to launch but says it needs virtual box; which is installed. I assume Geny isn't launching through virtual box like it should be I am a total noob at Linux. What can I do to fix this?

Tips on using a Remote Server to the fullest.(Customizing Ubuntu 14).
Hi people.

I was recently given access to a remote Linux(Ubuntu 14) server as a non-root user, to basically SSH into the server and perform some computing. The server has 4 GPUs, and many users.

I wanted to know some useful stuff so that I use the server to the fullest. Do note that i am not a sudoer. I want to know all the customizability I can change in the server. I did play around with the \`.bashrc\` file and added some welcome messages. But what are the other stuff I can do? From some research, I came to know about \`htop\` and \`SCREEN\` which is fun. I am mainly a python programmer.

Also, is there a way, I can install apt-get files without the \`sudo\` permission? I did some research and know about the download and \`make\` process, but I don't fully understand.

Thanks (Only if you reply :D )

Ubuntu vs Fedora SHOWDOWN
Time for the 2 biggest distros to duke it out. First we see what Ubuntu has to offer...
Ubuntu:
- Minimize button
- Visible dock
- Faster software store load
- Not having to update repositories every time you install something from the command line
- Bearable theme
- Better name
- LTS
- Nicer font rendering
Now what can fedora do to compete with that...
Fedora
- 32 bits apps
- no Snap
Throw in any thing else I missed in the comments. And yes, defaults matter!

How to learn more about BIOS and grub
I know what it is at a high level, but when it comes to actual configuration and entering commands, but it doesn't seem very user friendly. I want to understand what goes on before linux start loading up. Any help?

Deleted windows partition
Some of you are most likely happy I deleted my windows partition on my main PC. I have mixed feelings. I did it in a drunken stuper, always had a dual boot. at least I have my USB wifi adapter running. I made the decision because I mainly play games on my ps4 and not my PC and enjoy the freeness and openness of Linux on that I can eff around with it willingly.
Can someone make me feel better about my decision?
(No distro shaming please!)

Andreas Happe sometimes blogs about development, life or security.
I've been using Linux for almost a year now, and haven't managed to set up anything slightly advanced so far.
My brother tried to get me into Linux (Ubuntu to be specific) for years now, and since he didn't need his old Laptop anymore, he gave it to me for University and work. A lot of things were already set up, so I didn't really need to do anything to get it working in the first place! I had to change out quite a bit of hardware, but the software is basically the same as it was a year ago.
The thing is, I've thought about doing some modifications or random things like installing programs via Wine or setting up a dual boot environment, but have never managed to get it working and gave up relatively quickly, obviously leaving some "trash" behind because of the failed attempts. In the end I'll just say "Eh nevermind, better stop before I completely destroy everything", close everything related to it and move on. I am just starting to feel like Linux might not be the right OS for me! This wouldn't be a huge issue, but I am most likely going to study something IT related, and I feel like I should start getting into it soon.
Not looking for any particular advice here, just wanted to hear some opinions on it! If this isn't the right sub for discussions or stuff, I'll gladly post it somewhere else! =)
Edit: Thanks for all the kind comments!
