If Ubuntu is a beginner friendly distro, why does it use vim-tiny despite all the confusion is causes even to regular vim users?

I spend my work day in RHEL/CentOS world. Exiting vim jokes are always funny to me because despite being a vim user(only the basics; search, copy, paste, exit), I'm reminded of my first experience using vim every time I try to use it on Ubuntu. Even a simple task like commenting one line out, I always end up in a maze of confusion, adding characters everywhere and have to `:q!` while hoping nano is installed.

A Google search "vi ubuntu sucks" will produce results going back to 2000's. I'm not buying the smaller size argument as it's less than 30M on CentOS. And just because vi is not for beginners doesn't meant they should make it harder that it already is. Why does Ubuntu still include it as opposed to the full version?

Explain what Beignet OpenCL does for me like I'm 5 years old

50% of the time I install a new Linux distribution I install Beignet because it shows up in available drivers in the software center, but the other 50% of installs I don't install it because I have no idea what the OpenCL protocol is.

When I went to research it I start seeing articles about OpenCL versions 2.0 and 2.1 and "Intel Neo". It all sounds really interesting but for today, in the words of young Ricky Bobby, "I wanna go fast".

For the purpose of this, If I were a 5 year old seeking the best graphical performance from my ThinkPad with an i7-5600U vPro processor and integrated graphics, what drivers would I have to install whether its Beignet, this newfound Neo the internet speaks of, or none of the above after a fresh install of ZorinOS 15?

Private Modern Consortium

I have been developing a Social Media Marketing Agency, I decided to make a private discord server where visionaries and entrepreneurs can discuss ideas to become wealthy. Discussions can range from real estate to e commerce. This group of individuals focuses on a common goal which is wealth and education. Send me a PM to join. Only join if your an individual who likes discussions, debates, has general concern for the people in the group. And has an apetite for knowledge. The people can suggest ideas to improve the server and become a strong community.

Attention debian/testing without systemd

AFAIK those are antix/mx and devuan based distros and forks.

If they have been running testing, since debian 10 buster became stable today, those testing debian will be on bullseye (debian 11) repository. Since this is an all new repository don't expect antix/devuan testing to be fully compatible with it. So it is best till antix and devuan announce their own next repository, to remain with debian/buster and antix/devuan testing.

Devuan's release name after beowulf will be called Chimaera (an equivalent to Debian Bullseye). Antix uses numbers and I believe that would be considered Antix 21 (17 is Stretch, 19 is Buster).

Would like to move to Linux.

I’ve been looking in to it for years.. watching videos, reading articles, etc. Would like to do a full install on my old Mac (mid 2010 pro) since it cannot be updated to the current os. I’m curious as to what distro I should go with. I would like something minimal in system requirements, but with sufficient pre loaded software to get me started.
I’m familiar with windows cmd, but by no means am I proficient. I am also unfamiliar with Linux commands and file systems in general. I’ve heard good things about Debian, but am unsure about how “noob-friendly” it is. I know that Ubuntu used to be the go-to, but I’ve been reading things about how it is in a decline.
So uh, yeaaaa. Suggestions are appreciated, and will receive a free upvote from yours truly lmao.

I have 1 month to prepare for my Linux+ (XK0-004) exam, is this enough study material?

I have this book

I am also using these udemy video courses

and thats basically it. Will I do fine on just this alone?

P.S. I feel I should mention I have no prior experience with Linux, but I have CentOS installed in a Virtual Box to practice commands in.

A long standing kernel driver bug in snd_hda_intel affecting AMD platforms using Realtek audio codecs has existed since 2017. It causes static/distortion on both input and output channels. Can we get this some visibility to help move toward a resolution?
