A long standing kernel driver bug in snd_hda_intel affecting AMD platforms using Realtek audio codecs has existed since 2017. It causes static/distortion on both input and output channels. Can we get this some visibility to help move toward a resolution?

Story about linux rescue after rm -rf /
Some times ago I read a story about two guys who rescued a linux system after canceling the `rm -rf /` command.
Do you know the story and could you give me the link?
Would be very nice!
Thanks!

Sandboxing a folder
Hi there!
I'm running a server using Debian 10.0.0 (Just upgraded), and i have a really unique folder structure i have made for myself:
/home/user/dns: folder with domain subfolders which contain certs and DDNS passwords
/home/user/web: folder with domain subfolders which contain actual websites and applications
/home/user/hosts: folder with .conf files for each domain, because i run 20+ domains from my system.
what i am trying to get, is isolation between the directories in /home/user/web themselves and the system.
i want to be able to run a risky php in one of these directories and not worry about command execution and accessing files in a parent directory.
can that be done somehow?
(i really dont wanna run docker or kubernetes, just a native solution if there's one, or a really simple one.)
if you want to check out the folder structure of one of my websites to understand what im talking about: https://github.com/NadavTasher/WebAppBase
Thanks in advance!

So I plan on getting the pinebook pro once it releases, and I'm curious what do people think of arm on Linux? Plan on either running what it comes with or manjaro arm. What's the software availability like?

Support for ACPI CPPC2 (for Ryzen 3000) in cpufreq?
I am not a Linux expert, so please forgive and correct me if I say something wrong here.
With the Skylake architecture Intel added something branded as [SpeedShift](https://www.anandtech.com/show/9751/examining-intel-skylake-speed-shift-more-responsive-processors) which is enabled by using the [intel_pstate cpufreq](https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/513330/does-linux-kernel-support-intel-speed-shift) driver with HWP enabled. This technology allows the OS to hand control of P-states back to the processor so the processor selects what P-state it is in. This reduces the time taken to transition between states when a load is applied.
Now with the Ryzen 3000 series, AMD has added similar functionality called "[Collaborative Power Performance Control 2 \(CPPC2\)](https://www.sqlskills.com/blogs/glenn/category/glenns-tech-insights/)". Sorry for the article, it's the only I could find that discussed this in detail. This appears to be an ACPI spec, not a proprietary implementation (?). With that in mind, AMD's recent focus on open-source software, and the fact that AMD does not have a custom cpufreq driver, I would expect support for this feature to be rolled into the default cpufreq.
Has there been any discussion about adding CPPC2 support for hardware P-state control to cpufreq? If it already exists, how would I turn it on? [Here is a patch](https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/7539651/) that enables it for ARM only, but I can't find anything about enabling this for x86 - probably because this is the first(?) x86 processor release to support this.

RoyalTS Linux Equivalent
Hi all,
I've done a fair bit of looking online but can't seem to find a solid answer to my query.
I'm looking for a Linux equivalent to Royal TS because as much as I love working in command line I simply prefer a more structured GUI layout to manage my RDP, SSH, Telnet sessions. I also like that Royal TS on Windows can autocomplete logins for certain webpages that I bookmark on there.
Aside from the obvious "use commandline" suggestions; I've seen and looked at Remmina and it still doesn't complete my needs nor is is anywhere near as polished as Royal TS.
So I look to my community brethren and ask - is there anything I've missed that is close to the polished state of Royal TS that I can use on linux?
I look forward to seeing everyones answers.

Samba will have SMB1 disabled by default with upcoming v4.11
> SMB1 is disabled by default
> ----------------------------------------
> The defaults of 'client min protocol' and 'server min protocol' have been changed to SMB2_02.
> This means clients without support for SMB2 or SMB3 are no longer able to connect to smbd (by default).
> As Microsoft no longer installs SMB1 support in recent releases or uninstalls it after 30 days without usage, the Samba Team tries to get remove the SMB1 usage as much as possible.
> SMB1 is officially deprecated and might be removed step by step in the following years. If you have a strong requirement for SMB1(except for supporting old Linux Kernels), please file a bug at https://bugzilla.samba.org and let us know about the details.
