Hopefully this can help many. I've had issues with Smart Lock for years when it came to trusted locations. I went looking for optimized system apps. I don't know if you need to remove battery optimization for both but that's when it started working.
Go to your settings and search for "Optimize battery usage". Once you're in the list, change to "All". I can't remember if you have to enable to see system apps so check that first. I then disabled optimization for:

There is a real chance that a service you need to use only offers SMS as a 2FA option. It's time to ditch those services and find one from a company that cares at least a little bit about your account security.
I bought a Pixel 4a one month ago.
My phone broke and figured I'd buy a cheap phone until I get the next flagship that appeals to me. I settled on the Pixel 4a. Although I had some reservations from reviews:

Some said the video was bad and the audio wasn't great

It's small
