Observations from a noob in the smartphone market

Started with the xperia z3 back in 2014. My friend washed it under a tap in September 2016 when the microphone stopped and the screen got water smudges but still works. I got an Oppo a57 with sd435 for 175$ around November.

It has been 4.5 years since then and I realized I need an upgrade. The sizes are HUGE. Uncomfortably. Well, okay. Then I learned about chips and how there are low, mid, upper and 'flagship' chips. This post is concerned with the flagships.
