Google seems to have disabled support for 32-bit apps on the Pixel 7

Over the past 24 hours, a couple of users on /r/GooglePixel have noted that they're unable to sideload certain applications. One user pinged me on Twitter about this, so I got a friend with a Pixel 7 Pro (Adam Conway

I ordered both the regular Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. Here's which one I'm sending back, and why.

After trying them both out, I'm sending back the Pro, despite losing a free Pixel Watch (preorder bonus) in the process. The reasons are as follows, in the hopes that this post may help other undecided buyers:

- size. The regular Pixel is only a few millimeters smaller, but it's much comfier to hold and use in one hand

- shape and weight. The regular Pixel has a deeper, flat frame. At the same time it's lighter. This makes it noticably more comfortable to hold. I feel comfortable usin...

Pixel 7 Pro Thermal Throttling Tests, Max TDP, and Benchmarks

Hey. I don't usually post in the Android or Pixel Boards, but given the popularity/hype around the new Pixel 7s/Tensor G2s, I decided to give a barebones benchmark, similar to PC Hardware.

TLDR: Performance is great. Throttling is 82% of max_p. Battery life is 2.5 hours gaming.

My prior phone was an ASUS ROG2 (a high performance "gaming phone"), so my primary concern was performance, speed, heat, and frame rates.

For the benchmarks/scores, I tested both phones on a gigantic heatsink, so the...

How quick is your phone to take the first shot from locked?

I use my camera almost like a memory tool. I take pictures of letters, bills, receipts sometimes. If I need to remember how something was before I took it apart it, I take a picture of it. If I need to remember to buy groceries, I take a picture of whatever is running out. It's like a memento tool for me. So a quick capture is important to me.

My Pixel 4a takes about 2.5-3 seconds to take a phone from locked status. I use double tap power button and then tap the software shutter button.

This m...

PSA: It's looking like the Unlocked Pixel 7/7 Pro & Straight Talk/Tracfone's Verizon BYOP service are not compatible.

If you're using either Straight Talk, or Tracfone with their Verizon SIM, I would avoid the Unlocked Pixel 7 & 7 Pro for right now. I'm not sure if it's the phones themselves, or an issue with the carrier, or a combination of both, but it seems they're not compatible. I got my 7 Pro on Wednesday and tried using my ST Verizon SIM and it wouldn't work. I'm coming from a Oneplus 9 Pro and the SIM works just fine.

I say it could be an issue with either the phone, or with ST/TF because when...
