Android 14 adds new APIs that apps can use to check your phone's battery health (YMMV)

I bought a used Pixel 7 Pro recently and thought it was a shame that Google's battery health feature hasn't been released. I think it'd be nice to see how many charge cycles it's had before I bought it or what the estimated % of its original battery capacity is. Fortunately, Google added new APIs in Android 14 that make it possible to get this data...kinda!

For context, when Google released the first Android 13 QPR1 beta, I discovered

What's that really useful, can't live without app you install on all your devices?

For me it's Quick Cursor. Would put down Jina App Drawer for folder management but there's a few options there.

Quick Cursor is essential for my smallish hands to be able to properly use my Note20. Hotspot on bottom left and right, slide out with the thumb and access every corner of the device one handed....

Don't Let Reddit Kill 3rd Party Apps!

## [Link to original thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/Save3rdPartyApps/comments/13yh0jf/dont_let_reddit_kill_3rd_party_apps/)

**I know this breaks a few rules but I feel like this is too important not to break them.**

## What's going on?

A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app **permanently inaccessible** to users.

On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced the...

Found a way to hide the status bar (requires GoodLock)

1. Download GoodLock

2. Install Quickstar Module

3. Go to Visibility of Indicator Icons and hide everything

4. Go back, then look for Clock Settings and hide the clock

5. All that's left will be the battery percentage icon

6. Go to your phone settings and type "Battery Percentage" then select hide

7. Tweak Notifications settings to hide notifications

Until they implement Immersion Mode, I think this is the best solution. Tried installing apps to hide the status bar with limited success ...

Warning about "Breaking News Brief", a weird app that installs itself through ads on other apps.

If you've downloaded an app like "My Waifu", an AI chat app, or any other app that contains ads, you should take note of this post.

There are ads going around for a generic news app called "Breaking News Brief", which has auto-install buttons hidden in them when a user would try and exit out of it, leading to the app installing itself in the background.

On the app's Google Play Store page, many people have sounded the alarm about this with numerous one star reviews saying the same thing about...

Moon shots on a smartphone are overrated

I think Moon shots are overrated and a thing today only to make customers feel they have a great camera. It is easy to artificially enhance the image quality of the moon as literally everyone sees the same thing! It is just for your peace of mind as a justification of you spending 800+ bucks on a phone. It doesn’t actually translate to having the best camera smartphone. If you just want a good moon image, just pull out from web. If you want to take an authentic image, be ready to shell out money...
