Hole comparison : Honor View20 and Samsung Galaxy S10

[Honor View20 has a 4.5mm hole in its display](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/139041453438402560/530402212745314306/Annotation_2019-01-03_203633.jpg). It's also pretty close to the corner, both horizontally and vertically.

And Honor claims that it's much smaller and takes much less screen space (both in size and screen around it) than competitors. This helps keep the status bar height reduced and less screen space "wasted".

Today, according to the S10 leak by Evan Blass, [this is the S...

Why don't more OEMs take the "Android One" route?

Software development takes lot of money and time. More so when an OEM wants to develop software for a lot of phones. As a result we see negligible to poor software support for a lot of mid-range and entry level phones. Nokia has realized this problem and jumped the Android One bandwagon. Google takes care of the software and Nokia just has to test and fix any bugs.

Not every OEM has to do this, though. Big players, like Samsung and Huawei, can definitely afford developing software for their zil...

Why do Android application consume more RAM than iOS applications?

I did experiments using Xcode for iOS and the Running Services app for Android where I ran various apps on both an iPhone 6 and a Samsung S7 Edge. The apps were Facebook, WhatsApp, Google Chrome and Spotify. The results were that all the individual apps occupied more RAM in the Samsung compared to the iPhone.

Now, there are two directions. One of them is the amount of RAM an individual app consumes when being opened \[my experiment was in the 1st direction\].The other direction is measuring the...

How important are animations to you?

I recently discovered the now deprecated and never released Reddit app [Dank](https://github.com/saket/Dank), which can be downloaded from GitHub in its latest pre-release state.

Playing with it I noticed just how butter-smooth its animations are. They show up when switching between almost any layer of the app. Most importantly, those animations feel right at home on Android. Using the task switcher or the home button leads to similar transitions. This is how I imagined Material Design back wh...

The LG V35 is an amazing phone

I know that LG gets a lot of hate (deservedly) because of their crappy updates and their old issues, but man I just picked up a V35 and it's amazing. I haven't owned any other modern flagships to compare it to, I'm coming from a V20, but I feel like this is almost the perfect phone. Super snappy, good camera made better with gcam, ridiculous battery life (I hit almost 8 hours yesterday), and no notch + killer headphone jack. Obviously bias is possibly a factor but I objectively think this is one...

Design idea for Play Store changelogs.

https://imgur.com/wOzHEKz

I made a mockup of what I think could be an improvement to the changelog system on the Play Store.

Basically, there's should be a history of the changes with dates.

Also there can be screenshots/videos added (similar to the the actual Play Store listing) to show the latest features in action.

Maybe there can even be a button that allows users to go to a specific version to get the changes for that version, filter by beta branches, etc.

Maybe a lot of dumb suggest...
