r/Android, What will be your next phone?

I have been Android all my life and have an S8+ that is starting to feel a little long in the tooth. None of the upcoming Android phones really have me too excited. I have been tempted to try an iPhone just to try something different but it seems that no real 5G phones will be out until 2020. Curious to see what Pixel 4 turns out to be....

[Solution] Birthdays from contacts don't show up in S-planer (Samsung J5)

Searched the web for ages for a solution, then found it on my own.

I don't sync with google but keep everything within my device. Also I don't want the google calendar on my device. So all advice including syncing were useless for me.
Then I exported contacts to SD-card and reimported them => to the device. This solved the problem and S-planer suddenly showed all birthdays as expected....

Just a look at that mysterious hollow on top right inside of #Pixel4XL front panel. Knowing it's pretty deep nd seems to be no glass transparency, it's likely there to accommodate Soli Radar components IMO. Again, JUST AN ASSUMPTION based on that hollow location, size nd shape 😉

Google Play Store ignores background data restrictions.

I've been hit with data overages in the past so I lock down background data usage on several apps. This includes the Play Store. I've also disabled auto-update within that app.

However, at around 5:45PM I'm hit with the Play Store downloading about 20 MB of data. I'm told that disabling auto-update doesn't apply to the Play Store itself. What gives?

I'm using a Nexus 5X with Oreo 8.1.0....

"Lights Out" Twitter for Android Dark Mode. Why are we so often ignored?

Pure black dark mode for Twitter on iOS was rolled out way back in March. Twitter claimed the theme would roll out to Android 'soon'. Sure, I've gotten used to missing out on features by choosing to use Android, but how difficult can it be to develop an OLED pure black theme compared to iOS?
