Half way through the 2020's. What's your favorite games so far?

Since we are halfway through the 2020s, I figured we can discuss our favorite games that have come out last five years. My list is off the top of my head and I'm probably forgetting something, but anyway:
Alan Wake 2
Last of Us 2
Cyberpunk 2077 (after patch 2.0 is when I played it, I know it sucked on lunch).
Boulders Gate 3
Resident Evil 4 Remake
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Life is Strange True Colors

What's been your favorites?

People often ask what Pokemon would be if it evolved more and Cassette Beasts seems like the answer. It has an 85 on Opencritic and Eurogamer described it saying, "Cassette Beasts is classic Pokémon expertly remixed for those who feel they have aged out of the series' target audience."

Weekly /r/Games Discussion - What have you been playing, and what are your thoughts? - December 28, 2025

Use this thread to discuss whatever game you've been playing lately: old or new, AAA or indie, on any platform between Atari and XBox. Please don't just list off the games you're playing in your comment. Elaborate with your thoughts on the games and make it easier for other users to find what game you're talking about by putting the noscript in bold.

Also, please make sure to use spoiler tags if you're revealing anything about a game's plot that may significantly impact another player's experience who has not played the game yet, no matter how retro or recent the game is. You can find instructions on how to do so in the subreddit sidebar.

This thread is set to sort comments by 'new' on default.

Sucks to be in the sticks - coAction - Congrats, you are a vampire! Unfortunately, you still live here. A 2D vamp story from a decaying post-Soviet town.

Hey all! I am Alyona, a solo dev from Finland behind the game!

Check it out: Steam page | Trailer

A 2D narrative story about vampires from a small northern town who still need to do a lot more than just drink blood to survive (and they now drink energy huh). Get to know the undead and the living, help them or let them fall, feed the street cats, and brew some moonshine to make local drunkards happy.

We have the demo available on Steam, would be very happy to get your comments!

Song of Slavs - Sleeping Fox Studio - PixelArt Tower Defense inspired by Kingdom Two Crowns

Song of Slavs(Steam) is a game where you build and defend your settlements from mythical creatures that attack every night. The game is inspired by the Kingdom series, but has a huge number of differences

More depth! Song of Slavs strives to make the game deeper and more nuanced than Kingdom:
* You have access to a broader economy,
* A greater choice of economic buildings
* A greater choice of defensive structures and warriors.
* More conveniences! You can delete a building you've built, you can cancel its construction, and your units will no longer behave stupidly.
* More diverse locations with their own challenges. Swamps where you need to build bridges, dark caves that need to be illuminated, and cemeteries that are best not visited alone! And unique missions for completing the game. No more "destroy the portal." Each level will have its own victory conditions!

We've launched Playtest, so we'd love it if you sign up and add the game to your wishlist!

Strange Seed - Chronicle Games - Eat, evolve & adventure through a Spore-like RPG world

Strange Seed is not exactly a Spore successor, but it is creature evolution, with a semi-linear adventure, characters, a story, and a lot of challenges to adapt to!

It’s already released and on discount for $12 right now which is, like, the price of a banana these days, right?

[Steam page](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2463690/Strange_Seed/)
Trailer

Strange Seed comes from a wish that Spore had been more like an older creature evolution game, E.V.O.: Search for Eden.

Evolved parts should actually change gameplay and be used for specific tasks, for instance:
- Become small enough to crawl through a tiny tunnel
- Become big enough to push a heavy boulder
- Balance your wings with stamina bonuses to get through a platforming segment
- Load up on shells and spikes to become a defensive creature, or claws and teeth for a glass cannon build

While the game is already released, we’re still working on it and trying to make it better!

By the way, Steam makes the button tiny but there’s still a demo available:

Thanks for reading!

A Baby CEO?! - Bloo Owl - A silly management game inspired by Sort the Court

Hey r/Games, A Baby CEO?! is an episodic choices matter game where you play as a nepo baby! Your main method of communication is to vigorously gesture a Yes or No. Who you're flailing your tiny limbs at would be the employees of the company asking you questions that are *critical* for them to perform their jobs properly.

This is honestly my attempt at capturing the magic of Sort the Court while building on the format with other inspirations from:

Yes, Your Grace
The Pale Beyond
The Office (US)
IT Crowd
Office Space
Every cartoon I ever watched from 1998 - 2011

Game Trailers recently uploaded the announcement trailer and the comments were as silly as the game I think!

Check out the Steam Page if it catches your interest!

Oh and none of us on the team have watched Boss Baby, but we're planning on a group watch after release!

SECTOR ZERO - Ondrej Angelovic - Portal & Half-Life inspired dark physics-based adventure!

Steam Store Page & FREE DEMO | Story Trailer

Hi everyone! Indie Sunday is here! <3
My game will be released in Q1 2026 so we're getting really close to the finish-line!

About SECTOR ZERO:
SECTOR ZERO is a first-person, physics-based dark sci-fi adventure. The game takes place inside a massive asteroid being mined by human colonists. You play as a small fragment of an alien hive mind known as The Corruption, which had been dormant in the asteroid’s core, until the mining operations woke it up.

The core mechanic of the game is your ability to corrupt and control human-made machinery. This power helps you navigate the world, solve physics-based puzzles, and overcome platforming challenges.
