The US figure skater Timothy LeDuc has become the first openly non-binary athlete to compete in the Winter Olympics in Beijing. LeDuc hopes people will see that ‘queer people can be open and successful in sports.’ ‘We’ve always been here. We’ve always been a part of sports. The country's political instability after the collapse of the Soviet Union and economic decline led to a surge in violence. Doing business became life-threatening. Novgorod was hit the hardest because of its proximity to Moscow and Saint Petersburg. The criminal activity from the two capitals added to its own.
Aleksandr Sadriyev was a very successful businessman, well known and respected by both the people and the authorities of Novgorod. His retail chain was doing well and invoked envy from the criminal circles who wanted a share of his profits.
However, Sadriyev was adamant, and tragedy did happen — he was murdered, and his apartment robbed. Anastasia, then a high school graduate, was convinced that sooner or later the killers would be found. And they were, after 24 years.
